## Description

This infrared thermometer from Etekcity reads surface temperatures fast and with minimal effort. The Lasergrip design and 12:1 distance ratio let you aim from about 36 cm and scan surfaces like grills, ovens, candy, and meat with a clear LCD readout. Use it when you need a quick surface check during cooking or light workshop tasks, the response appears on screen in under half a second and helps you act without guesswork.

## What to know

The Etekcity 774 infrared thermometer uses noncontact infrared sensing so you can measure hot or cold surfaces without touching them. It displays results in Fahrenheit or Celsius and shows the average temperature across the sensor area rather than a single point, according to the manufacturer. The unit runs on two AAA batteries which are included, and the bright LCD stays readable even in low light. Keep in mind this tool is designed for inanimate objects only and should not be used on people or animals for safety reasons.

## Tech specs

- Name: **Etekcity 774 laser thermometer**
- Temperature range: -58° – 842° F / -50° – 450° C
- Distance to spot ratio: 12:1 at approximately 36 cm
- Power: 2 AAA batteries included
- Response time: under 0.5 second

## Benefits

The main advantage is speed, you get a temperature reading almost instantly so you can adjust heat or timing quickly. The laser aid helps you point accurately which reduces wasted checks when searing meat or testing a baking surface. The average-area reading reduces the risk of chasing a single hot or cold spot, and the compact grip makes brief kitchen or shop use comfortable. One caveat, according to the manual the result reflects the average of the target area which may not capture tiny hot spots.

## How to use it

Hold the pistol about 36 cm from the surface you want to test, aim the laser to center the target area, and press the trigger to scan. Read the value on the LCD in less than half a second and switch units if needed. Replace the two AAA batteries when the display dims. For the most accurate surface readings clean the lens and keep the device steady while measuring. Use the thermometer for testing grills, pans, ovens, candy stages and other inanimate surfaces where fast surface readings matter.
