## Description

A floor stand suits players who need adjustable height, while a tabletop rest is easier to place on a desk. The Donner DMS-1 is designed to switch between both setups. Its foldable metal stand comes with a light and carrying bag. That combination fits practice sessions that move between rooms or locations.

## Who it’s for
The DMS-1 is aimed at musicians who want one stand for seated tabletop use and taller standing setups. Its height adjusts from 16.5 to 57 inches, and the product listing names guitar, ukulele, and violin players among its intended users. The dual-use format may also be useful in a classroom, choir, church band, or orchestra setting where the available space and playing position can change.

For home practice, it can hold sheet music on the floor stand, then switch to tabletop use when a desk or other surface makes more sense. The included bag supports carrying and storage, and the light is a practical addition for reading music in dimmer settings. Worth considering if portability and setup flexibility matter more than having a stand dedicated to only one position.

## Strengths
The main advantage is versatility: the same stand can be set up vertically or used on a table. A folding bookplate and steel construction are intended to make it portable, while the bag keeps the stand and accessories together. The ABS bookplate is listed with a capacity of up to 12 pounds, so the stated use extends beyond sheet music to heavier items such as a book, computer, or projector.

Buyer feedback is positive about portability, the included bag, and usefulness for practice. Some buyers also appreciate the light and say the stand works with different instruments. Reports about sturdiness are mixed, however: some find it stable, while others describe it as less secure. Durability concerns also appear in buyer feedback, including reports of fragile-looking parts and screws that strip. These experiences are not a stated product specification, but they are worth weighing if the stand will be assembled and moved frequently. It may not suit you if long-term durability under frequent handling is your main priority.

## Buying verdict
The DMS-1 makes sense for a player who wants a portable stand that can move between floor and tabletop setups, with a light and bag included. Its adjustable height and stated load capacity add flexibility for different practice arrangements. Compared with a basic tabletop-only rest, it offers a taller floor-standing setup, compared with choosing a stand solely for demanding, repeated handling, the mixed buyer feedback on sturdiness and durability is a reason to consider how often it will be moved and assembled. If you prioritize a single-purpose, heavy-duty setup, the available information does not establish that this model is the better fit.
