## Description

The 12-inch blade format gives the DEWALT DWS780 a broad cutting platform for woodworking, trim work, framing, and deck projects. Its sliding compound design handles crosscuts and angled cuts in one saw.

The XPS LED system casts a shadow where the blade meets the workpiece, giving you a clear visual reference for lining up cuts. The cutline indication is adjustment-free, including when you change blades.

A corded 15-amp motor runs at 3,800 rpm. Double-bevel and miter adjustments support angled work across a range of jobsite and shop tasks.

## Key specifications
- Type: Sliding compound miter saw
- Blade: 12-inch carbide blade with 80 teeth
- Motor: 15 amp, 3,800 rpm, corded electric, 110 volts
- Bevel range: 0 to 49 degrees left and right, with positive stops at 0, 22.5, 33.9, 45, and 49 degrees
- Miter range: 50 degrees left and 60 degrees right, with 10 positive stops
- Cutting capacity: Up to 13-7/8 inches horizontally, up to 6-3/4 inches vertically
- Dust collection: Designed to capture over 75% of generated dust
- Included accessories: Blade wrench, vertical material clamp, and dust bag

For repeatable angle settings, the stainless-steel miter detent plate has positive stops, while its cam-lock button lets you secure angles between detents. The XPS shadow guide offers a different approach from a conventional laser line: it shows the blade’s contact point on the material without requiring recalibration when the blade is changed. Customers often highlight the saw’s accuracy, ease of use, and sturdy feel, opinions on long-term durability are mixed.

## Usage tips
Set the material against the fence and use the XPS shadow on the work surface to align the intended cut before bringing the blade down. The included vertical clamp helps hold the workpiece in position during cutting. For a square crosscut, use the 90-degree setting, for trim, framing, or other angled work, select a miter detent or lock an angle between stops with the cam-lock button.

The dual-bevel design lets you tilt the saw left or right, which is useful when making opposing bevel cuts. Its sliding action and stated horizontal cutting capacity make it suited to wider stock as well as routine crosscuts. The dust collection system is designed to capture over 75% of dust generated, a practical feature for keeping the cutting area more manageable. This is a corded 110-volt saw, so plan to use it with a suitable power source.

## In the box
The package includes the 12-inch miter saw, a 12-inch carbide blade, a blade wrench, a vertical material clamp, and a dust bag. The clamp supports workpiece positioning, while the wrench is provided for blade changes.

## Final verdict
The DEWALT DWS780 brings blade-shadow alignment, a sliding compound design, and left-and-right bevel capability together for detailed woodworking and demanding cut work. It’s a great fit if you need one 12-inch saw for crosscuts, trim, framing, and angled cuts, with the included clamp and dust bag ready to support setup and cleanup.
