## Description

## What matters most
This is a 23-piece deep impact socket set designed for heavy-duty fasteners exposed to torque and impact. It’s built to handle high-torque tasks typical in automotive or machinery maintenance, where standard sockets may crack or strip. On paper, the black oxide finish helps resist corrosion, and the 6-point design aims to grip fasteners more securely under impact.

## Tech specs
- Name: CRAFTSMAN Deep Impact Socket Set, SAE, 1/2-Inch, 23 Pieces (CMMT16970)
- Type: Deep impact sockets
- Size: 1/2-Inch drive, SAE sizes
- Pieces: 23
- Finish: Corrosion resistant black oxide
- Design: 6-point sockets for better grip on fasteners
- Standards: Meets or exceeds ASME specifications
- Warranty: Full Lifetime Warranty

## Benefits
If you’re prioritizing durability and reliability in tough automotive work, this set offers a straightforward path to higher torque without overpaying for premium brands. The 6-point sockets are typically better at capturing corners of fasteners, reducing cam-out under load. The wide size markings help with fast identification on busy jobsites.

## Usage tips
Use this set with a compatible impact wrench or breaker bar to maximize torque transfer. The deep socket design helps reach recessed fasteners, but verify the exact SAE sizes included to ensure coverage for your project. Keep an eye on the finish, while corrosion-resistant, prolonged exposure to moisture and grime can still wear the oxide finish over time. If you’re new to impact sockets, start with a few sizes you know you’ll use most and expand as needed.

## Who it’s for
This set suits DIYers and professionals who frequently work with half-inch impact tooling and need a broad yet compact kit for automotive repairs, equipment maintenance, or workshop tasks. It’s particularly appealing if you want a practical, no-frills option that prioritizes torque transfer and longevity over flashy features.

## What to know before buying
- Check that the included SAE sizes align with your common fasteners so you don’t end up with gaps.
- While the finish suggests corrosion resistance, regular cleaning after exposure to moisture or corrosive substances will extend life.
- If you work primarily with metric fasteners, this SAE-focused set may be less versatile, consider whether you need a mixed or metric-friendly option.

## Is it worth it?
Not every shop needs a premium, name-brand feel for every task. If your priority is a robust, mid-priced set that stands up to impact work and offers broad size coverage, this CRAFTSMAN kit is a reasonable pick. It may not be the best choice if you require the absolute smallest inch-pound torque tolerance or if you rely on advanced coatings, but for many common tasks it hits a pragmatic balance between cost and capability.
