## Description

## Key points

Made from plastic, the Comirth CMR-80 play food set brings pretend shopping and kitchen prep together with two picnic baskets, assorted toy foods, and pieces designed to separate for pretend cutting. The mix includes pizza, fruits, vegetables, seafood, desserts, pasta, cheese, and other foods, giving children plenty of ingredients to choose from when setting up a market or planning an imaginative meal. Toy knives and hook-and-loop attachments make it possible to practice the motions of cutting and preparing food during play.

The set measures 5 x 10 x 7 inches and is listed for ages 36 months to 8 years. Its variety supports open-ended role-play: children can fill the baskets, sort the foods, and take turns serving or preparing a meal. Buyers often praise the colorful appearance, assortment, and cut-apart play. Feedback on the hook-and-loop joins is mixed, with some customers wishing the pieces held together more firmly.

## Everyday use

The two baskets give play a natural starting point. A child can gather pretend groceries, carry them to a play kitchen, then choose ingredients for a meal. The cut-apart foods add a hands-on step: use the toy knives to separate pieces, then bring them back together for another round of preparation. This creates more to do than simply arranging food on a plate, while keeping the activity centered on imaginative kitchen play.

The variety also makes it easy to change the story from one play session to the next. Pizza can be part of a pretend lunch, fruits and vegetables can become market finds, and desserts or pasta can round out a made-up menu. Children can play independently or share roles such as shopper, cook, and server. The plastic pieces and child-size format are suited to handling during pretend play.

## Best use cases

This set suits children who enjoy play kitchens, pretend grocery shopping, and serving meals. Use the baskets for a market-style game, or bring the foods into a kitchen play area for sorting, cutting, and make-believe cooking. The assortment gives siblings or playmates different items to select and talk about, while the separation features add a simple fine-motor activity to the scenario.

Compared with a basic play-food set focused mainly on serving, this one adds two baskets for shopping play and foods that can be cut apart. That combination is useful for families looking for both grocery role-play and kitchen preparation in the same toy set. The educational objectives include STEM, and the varied shapes and colors can support pretend play and opportunities to practice recognizing foods and colors.

## What to clarify

**What age is the set intended for?** The recommended age range is 36 months to 8 years, so it is intended for young children ready for pretend-play toys.

**What kinds of play food are included?** The assortment includes pizza, fruits, vegetables, seafood, desserts, beans, steak, pasta, cheese, tomato sauce, and mushroom cans, among other pretend foods.

**How does the cutting play work?** Selected pieces use hook-and-loop attachments so children can separate them with the toy knives and join them again as part of pretend food preparation.

## When it makes sense

The Comirth CMR-80 is a practical fit for a child who likes to move between shopping and cooking games. Its two baskets, broad food assortment, and cut-apart pieces create several ways to play with one set, from gathering groceries to preparing an imaginative meal. Choose it for a play kitchen or pretend market where hands-on food prep and shared role-play are part of the fun.
