## Description

The 3977767 high-limit thermostat is designed to shut off a dryer’s heating element if the appliance overheats. This kit contains six thermostats for dryer repair and replacement. It is listed as compatible with select dryers from brands including Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag, Roper, Crosley, and Amana. Match the part number and your dryer’s model before installation.

## Usage tips
Use the 3977767 thermostat as a replacement part when servicing a compatible dryer. The thermostat’s role is to interrupt the heating element if the dryer overheats, making it relevant when diagnosing concerns such as insufficient heat, extended drying, or a dryer that shuts off too soon. These symptoms can have different causes, so confirm that this is the correct replacement for the appliance before beginning the repair.

The kit is also identified by cross-reference numbers including 3399693, WP3977767, AP6009043, PS11742185, and 898078. Check the number on the existing part and the dryer’s model number against the compatibility information. During service, clean out lint around the repair area, as directed in the product information. If you are comparing a single replacement part with a cross-reference kit, this set provides six thermostats under the 3977767 part number.

## What you’ll notice day to day
This component supports the dryer’s overheat shutoff function by interrupting power to the heating element when the appliance overheats. For a household dealing with a dryer that is not heating enough, takes longer to dry, will not start, or shuts off too soon, the thermostat may be one of the parts considered during diagnosis. Replacing the correct part can help address a thermostat-related issue while preserving the appliance’s intended overheat response.

The value of this kit is its clearly identified replacement number and its listed cross-references. Rather than choosing a part only because it looks similar, use the 3977767 number and your dryer’s full model number to guide the match. The listed compatible brands include Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag, Roper, Crosley, Inglis, Estate, Amana, KitchenAid, Admiral, and Magic Chef, compatibility depends on the specific dryer model.

## When it makes sense
This kit suits repair work where a compatible dryer needs a replacement high-limit thermostat and the existing part or appliance model matches the listed references. It can be a practical fit for keeping replacement thermostats on hand across repair jobs, with six pieces included under one part number. For a specific dryer, prioritize matching the appliance model and replacement reference rather than relying on brand name alone. That makes the 3977767 kit useful for targeted maintenance focused on the dryer’s heating cutoff system.
