## Description

## Key specifications

For a hike, a poolside afternoon, or music while you get ready, a portable speaker is most useful when it can move around without much fuss. The Bose SoundLink Flex Bluetooth Speaker (2nd Gen) is designed for that kind of grab-and-go listening.

Its compact body has a utility loop for attaching it to a bag, and the silicone-wrapped exterior is described as built to handle drops and shocks. The speaker is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance, which suits outdoor settings better than a speaker meant only for indoor use.

Bose lists up to 12 hours of battery life, USB-C charging, Bluetooth 5.3, and a wireless range of up to 30 feet. PositionIQ senses whether the speaker is standing, lying down, or hanging and adjusts the sound. Multipoint lets it pair with multiple devices, while the Bose app provides software updates.

## Who it’s for

This model makes sense for someone who wants one small speaker to move between home and outdoor plans, rather than a larger setup that stays in one room. Picture clipping it to a day bag on a hike, then setting it on a table at a picnic, the loop and portable size are practical details for that routine.

A solid pick if you value a portable build, dust and water resistance, and the option to change how the speaker is positioned. Its stated stereo and Party modes also let you link two compatible Bose speakers for a wider or louder setup. That’s a useful upgrade path, though it depends on owning another compatible speaker.

## Everyday use

The controls and features are aimed at straightforward listening: connect over Bluetooth, place or hang the speaker, and let PositionIQ respond to its orientation. For a shower or poolside setting, the IP67 rating and dust resistance offer more reassurance than a basic indoor Bluetooth speaker, while the silicone-wrapped body is intended to cope with bumps along the way.

There are limits to keep in mind. On the spec sheet, up to 12 hours is a maximum battery-life figure, not a guarantee for every listening session. And while Bose describes the audio as clear and balanced with deep bass, the compact format is still for portable personal or shared listening—not a substitute for a larger system when you need room-filling sound.

## Practical doubts

**Can it be used near water?** It carries an IP67 rating and is described as waterproof and dustproof, making it suited to poolside or shower use. That rating does not mean it needs to be submerged during everyday use.

**How long does the battery last?** Bose states up to 12 hours. Actual listening time can vary, so treat that as a maximum rather than a fixed session length.

**Can it play in stereo with another speaker?** Bose says two compatible speakers can be linked in Stereo Mode for left and right channels, or in Party Mode for bigger sound.

## Should you buy it?

Choose the SoundLink Flex if portability and outdoor-friendly protection matter more than the scale of a larger speaker. Its loop, IP67 rating, flexible placement, and stated battery life fit casual listening on the move. Not the best choice if you need a speaker for powerful room-filling playback, or if you want stereo sound without adding a second compatible Bose speaker.
