## Description

For listeners seeking more of Marco Beltrami’s music for Blade II, this Deluxe Edition expands the original soundtrack program into a 97-minute, 38-track set. The score brings together full orchestra and choir, taiko drums, shakuhachi, and electronic elements. That range gives the music room to move between symphonic tension, action, and horror. Liner notes by Daniel Schweiger include new interview comments from Beltrami.

## How to use it
Play this two-CD set as a soundtrack listen or return to individual cues when you want to focus on a particular part of the score. Its expanded track listing offers a much longer presentation than the 33-minute program released in 2002, so it suits listeners who want to spend more time with the music beyond the film. The mix of orchestral and electronic writing also makes it easy to follow how the score shifts in character: taiko drums and shakuhachi bring in an Asian musical influence, while the orchestra and choir provide the symphonic scale described for the film’s action-horror style.

The electronic side has a distinct place in the collection, with DJ Danny Saber collaborating with Beltrami on several cues. For a focused listening session, that gives you a chance to hear the score’s different musical approaches across its 38 tracks rather than relying on a short selection. The accompanying liner notes add context through Daniel Schweiger’s writing and new comments from the composer.

## Tech summary
- Format: 2-CD Deluxe Edition
- Track count: 38 tracks
- Runtime: 97 minutes
- Composer: Marco Beltrami
- Liner notes: Daniel Schweiger, including new interview comments from the composer

## Pros
The main benefit is the expanded presentation: the 97-minute edition is nearly three times the length of the original 33-minute program. That makes this a more substantial way to explore Beltrami’s Blade II score, with 38 tracks covering its orchestral, choral, percussion, and electronic elements. Rather than presenting only a brief overview, the set gives the score a broader place in a soundtrack collection and more room for focused listening.

Its musical palette is another defining feature. Taiko drums and shakuhachi reflect the Asian influence in Guillermo del Toro’s approach, while full orchestra and choir support the score’s symphonic action-horror character. The collaboration with DJ Danny Saber adds an electronic dimension to several cues. The included liner notes offer another point of interest for fans who value composer commentary alongside the music.

## When it makes sense
This edition makes sense for Blade II fans and soundtrack collectors looking for an extended release of the film’s score, especially if the original 33-minute program feels too brief for a dedicated listen. It also suits listeners drawn to action-horror scores that combine orchestral and choral writing with taiko, shakuhachi, and electronic elements. If you are choosing between a short soundtrack program and a fuller score presentation, this 38-track, 97-minute set is the more expansive way to spend time with Beltrami’s music for the film.
