## Description

## What you’ll notice day to day

At 42 inches tall, this gray retractable mesh gate creates a defined barrier for doorways and other openings. Its width adjusts to openings up to 60 inches. Reinforced fiberglass support rods help the mesh stay supported as it extends and retracts. Choose a retractable design when you want a barrier that can roll away when it’s not in use, rather than remain across the opening.

The double-lock mechanism is designed to help prevent babies from opening the gate accidentally, while adults can open or close it with one hand. That can be useful when carrying a child or moving through a busy household. Buyers appreciate the gate’s appearance and ease of use, while feedback is mixed on durability, retraction, and how reliably it keeps dogs contained. For pet use, consider your dog’s size and behavior as you decide where to install it.

## What to know

This is a hardware-mounted gate, so it attaches at the opening rather than standing freely in place. The lower bracket adjusts up or down to accommodate different baseboard heights and styles. Its reinforced mesh construction is designed to resist sagging, and the supported lower edge helps keep the mesh from lifting. A double lock adds a deliberate step to opening and closing, while the retractable format clears the passage when access is needed.

The gate is 42 inches high and extends up to 60 inches wide. Measure the intended opening and choose a mounting position that lets the gate extend across it. Since installation uses hardware, plan to mount it securely at the selected doorway or stair opening before relying on it as a barrier.

## Best use cases

Use the gate to create separation between household areas, such as a kitchen and living room, or to restrict access to a hallway, porch, deck, or patio. It can also be positioned at a stair opening when installed as a hardware-mounted barrier. The roll-away mesh is practical in passages that need to stay open at times: retract it for everyday movement, then extend and lock it when you want to define the space again.

For households choosing between a barrier that stays in place and one that can be tucked away, this design prioritizes flexible access and a smaller footprint when retracted. It is intended for both babies and pets, with reinforced rods, extra height, and a double lock as its key design features.

## Practical questions

**How wide can the gate extend?** It adjusts to openings up to 60 inches wide and is 42 inches tall. Measure the opening where you plan to mount it to confirm it falls within that range.

**Can it be rolled away when the opening is in use?** Yes. The mesh retracts into its housing when the barrier is not needed, and the double-lock mechanism is operated by an adult to open or close the gate.

**Where can it be installed?** It is designed for hardware mounting at doorways and stair openings, and can also be used around areas such as kitchens, hallways, porches, decks, and patios. The lower bracket adjusts to different baseboard heights and styles.

## When it makes sense

This gate suits homes that need a tall, adjustable barrier for an opening up to 60 inches wide, with the option to retract it between uses. Its reinforced mesh, adjustable lower bracket, and double-lock design make it a practical way to manage access around children and pets while keeping frequently used passages clear when the barrier is rolled away.
