BAGSMART Packable Hiking Backpack with Water-Resistant Nylon and Phone Pocket

For hikers, commuters, and travelers who want a small daypack that can be tucked away between outings, the BAGSMART packable backpack combines a folding design with pockets for everyday essentials. Its built-in pouch turns the bag into a compact bundle for a suitcase or carry-on, while the open backpack is described as suitable for day hikes, cycling, camping, errands, and light travel.

There is a capacity discrepancy in the supplied details: the product name says 15L, while the description says 18L overall and 12L for the main compartment. If a specific capacity matters for your packing plan, this listing does not give one consistent figure.

Usage tips

Use the built-in inner pouch to store the backpack when you do not need a daypack, then unfold it for an outing or as an extra bag while traveling. The front zip pocket and two side pouches provide separate places for items you want to reach without opening the main compartment. A zippered shoulder-strap pocket is sized for a cell phone, and an elastic pouch is intended for snacks or other grab-and-go items.

For a short hike or a day of errands, the slim profile and listed dimensions of 17.7 × 11 × 5.7 inches give a sense of the space it occupies when open. The pack weighs 0.5 lbs. Its water-resistant nylon is described as suitable for light rain, not as a waterproof barrier, so the stated protection should not be treated as a substitute for waterproof storage in heavier rain.

Why it’s worth it

The main draw is having a daypack that can be stowed inside its own pouch rather than carrying a conventional backpack when it is not in use. That makes it relevant as an extra bag for travel, cruises, shopping, or a day outdoors. The separate pockets also offer more organization than a basic single-compartment tote, particularly for a phone, snacks, and small items that need quick access.

It suits you if you want a lightweight, foldable bag for everyday essentials and short outings. It’s not for you if you need a confirmed capacity before buying: the supplied figures conflict, and the details describe a compact daypack rather than a larger bag for carrying substantial gear. For a more demanding load, a backpack with a clearly stated capacity and intended load would be a more straightforward choice.

Questions before you buy

Does it fold for travel? Yes. It packs into its built-in inner pouch, listed as 6.7 × 7 inches.

Can it hold a cell phone within easy reach? The description identifies a zippered pocket on the shoulder strap as a phone pocket.

Is it waterproof? The material is described as water-resistant and suitable for light rain. The supplied details do not claim that the backpack is waterproof.

Should you buy it?

Choose the BAGSMART if a compact, light daypack that folds away is more useful to you than a larger, non-packable backpack. Its pockets and stated light-rain resistance suit casual outings and travel use. Before relying on its capacity for a particular trip, account for the conflicting 15L, 18L, and 12L figures, the product details do not resolve which one represents the usable capacity.
