M-Audio BX5BT 5-Inch Desktop Studio Monitor Speakers with Bluetooth and DSP
Product description
For a home desk used to edit video, record a podcast, or work on music, the M-Audio BX5BT pair combines desktop studio monitors with Bluetooth playback. Its wired TRS inputs support a more direct connection to compatible audio equipment, while Bluetooth 5.0 offers a cable-free way to play audio from a Bluetooth-enabled device.
DSP listening modes and app-based EQ add room to adjust the sound without making setup the main project.
How to use it
Place the pair on a desktop and connect power, the speakers run on AC. Use the rear-panel TRS inputs to connect compatible audio gear, or stream from a Bluetooth-enabled device when convenient. That gives a creator a choice between a wired setup for working with audio and wireless playback for listening to reference material or casual content. The product listing includes a speaker interconnect cable, power cable, and two isolation pads, along with a quickstart guide and safety and warranty manual.
The front-panel switch provides FLAT, HYPE, and CUSTOM modes. FLAT is described as a neutral reference mode, HYPE as a more consumer-speaker-like presentation, and CUSTOM as the mode for a user-adjusted sound. The M-Audio Studio Control app adds a five-band EQ and custom presets, so adjustments can be saved for different preferences or room setups. It suits you if you want desktop speakers that can serve both audio work and everyday Bluetooth listening, with some control over the playback profile.

Why it’s worth it
The BX5BT offers more adjustment than a basic pair of desktop Bluetooth speakers: in addition to wireless playback, it has TRS inputs, three listening modes, and app-controlled EQ. That flexibility can be useful when a desk serves several roles, such as checking a video edit, working on a podcast, and playing music between tasks. Its five-inch woofers and one-inch tweeters define the speaker setup, while the stated 49 Hz frequency response gives a concrete reference point for comparing monitors.
This is still a desktop pair rather than an all-purpose portable speaker. Bluetooth is useful for convenient playback, but it does not replace the wired TRS connection when your equipment calls for one. The speakers are AC-powered and listed as not water resistant, so they are intended for a stationary indoor setup rather than outdoor or wet use. Better avoided if you need battery-powered speakers or water resistance.
Final verdict
The M-Audio BX5BT is worth considering for a creator who wants a stereo desktop monitor pair with both wired TRS connectivity and Bluetooth, plus practical ways to change the listening profile. It offers more control than a simple wireless speaker setup without requiring a separate EQ device for the listed app adjustments. For a more demanding monitoring setup, compare the connection and frequency-response requirements of your equipment and workflow before choosing, the information here does not establish how it will perform in every room or production chain.
