## Description

Check on a sleeping baby from another room, see what a pet is doing, or keep an eye on an indoor space while you’re away. The Arlo Essential Indoor HD Camera captures 1080p video with a 130-degree field of view, then sends motion alerts and live video to the Arlo app over Wi-Fi. Its wired power keeps it ready for a regular indoor monitoring spot.

Two-way audio lets you listen and speak through the camera, while night vision supports viewing in low light. When you want privacy, the automated privacy shield covers the camera lens.

## Pros
A broad 130-degree view helps cover more of a room from one camera, making it useful in a nursery, bedroom, kitchen, or home office. Motion alerts can notify you when activity is detected, and live streaming gives you a way to check in from a smartphone, tablet, desktop, or laptop. Night vision adds visibility after the room gets dark, while two-way audio lets you speak to family members or pets through the camera.

The privacy shield is a practical distinction from indoor cameras that leave the lens exposed whenever they are powered. Use the Arlo app to check the live view, and close the shield when you want the camera lens covered. The camera supports [amazon](https://www.amazon.com/-/dp/B0DVN2RW1W?tag=globalofertit-20) Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT control.

## What matters most
This is a wired, Wi-Fi-connected camera for indoor monitoring. Its 1080p video and 130-degree viewing angle suit a fixed position where you want to see a wider area, such as a nursery doorway or a pet’s usual spot. For a simple check-in, open the app for live video, for a two-way interaction, use the camera’s audio feature. The camera can stand freely or be mounted using the included wall mount and screw kit. A power adapter and instruction manual are also included.

If you’re choosing between a camera intended for a single room and a system built around outdoor coverage, the Essential Indoor’s privacy shield, app-based live view, and two-way audio are tailored to everyday indoor check-ins. Buyers praise the picture clarity and broad view, feedback on Wi-Fi setup and audio is mixed, so those experiences can vary. What would make an indoor camera more useful than a view-only monitor? The ability to speak through it and cover its lens when privacy matters.

## Who it’s for
It makes sense if you want a wired camera for monitoring a baby, pets, or activity inside the home, with alerts and live video available in the Arlo app. Night vision supports low-light viewing, and the privacy shield provides a direct way to cover the lens. The camera is intended for use in the U.S., the Arlo app can be accessed remotely from elsewhere.

## Practical questions
**Does it work in a dark room?** Yes. The camera has night vision, which is specified as black and white, for viewing in low-light conditions.

**Can I speak through the camera?** Yes. Its two-way audio lets you listen and talk through the camera using the app, which can be useful for checking in on family or pets.

**Can I save and review recordings?** An Arlo Secure plan is required for video storage for up to 30 days. The plan also offers animated previews and detection features such as people, vehicle, package, and animal recognition.

## Should you buy it?
Choose the Arlo VMC2060 when a dependable indoor setup matters more than a battery-powered, move-anywhere camera. Its 1080p live view, wide field of view, motion notifications, night vision, two-way audio, and automated privacy shield bring useful monitoring features together for a nursery, pet area, or other frequently used room.
