What it works with

Setup is designed to adapt to the selected platform, giving households with different phones a choice of tracking ecosystem when setting up their tags.

The supported networks use encrypted, anonymous transmissions for location data, according to the product details. Access to a tag can also be shared through Google Find Hub’s newer Android features or Apple’s Find app on iOS 17, so another person can view the item’s location map. Sharing can be useful when family members need to help keep track of shared luggage or household keys. The listing also states that the app-based tracking does not require a subscription.

Practical tips

Keep a tag with the item you want to find, such as a set of keys, a bag, or a wallet, then use its associated app when the item goes missing. When it is within Bluetooth range, the app’s distance display can help narrow the search area. What if the item is close by but tucked out of sight? Trigger the built-in speaker from the app to make it easier to pinpoint among drawers or sofa cushions.

For a useful setup, pair each tag with the iOS or Android platform you intend to use, then keep track of which belongings have a tag. If someone else should be able to check an item’s location, use the sharing feature available on the selected platform.
