## Description

If your laptop or computer needs a way to read or burn discs, this portable Alronly external CD/DVD drive connects through USB-A or USB-C. It supports CD and DVD reading and writing, so it can help with tasks like playing music, accessing files on a disc, installing software, or burning a disc from a computer.

The built-in cable keeps the drive’s connection close at hand, while plug-and-play operation makes setup straightforward. Choose it for a compact disc drive to carry between workspaces, if your priority is a permanently installed optical drive, an internal model serves a different setup.

## Everyday compatibility
Use the drive with a compatible PC, Mac, or laptop to read CDs and DVDs or burn discs. USB-A and USB-C connections give you two ways to connect, depending on the port available on your computer. The drive is intended to work with computers rather than as a standalone player, making it useful for accessing a disc from a computer or setting up a disc-based installation.

For everyday tasks, the 24x CD and 8x DVD speeds support both music and data-disc use, while the portable form makes it practical to move between a home desk and an office. Customer feedback often highlights easy setup and computers recognizing the drive, comments are more mixed on reading certain discs, speed, noise, build, and reliability. These experiences can vary, so match the drive to the discs and computer-based tasks you plan to use.

## Practical tips
Connect the built-in cable directly to a computer USB port. If a desktop computer does not recognize the drive, its rear USB port may provide a more suitable connection than a front port, connecting directly rather than through a hub can also help provide enough power. On a Mac, the drive may appear after a disc is inserted and read.

For video DVDs on Windows, playback may require compatible media-player software, Windows 10 and 11 may also need an internet connection for playback setup. The drive handles the disc connection, while playback software on the computer is used to open the content. If you plan to burn discs, connect the drive to the computer and use your preferred disc-burning software.

## When it makes sense
This drive is suited to computer users who still rely on physical CDs or DVDs but want a portable way to access them without installing an internal drive. The USB-A and USB-C options support connection to different computer ports, and the built-in cable avoids having to manage a separate drive cable. Choose it for a home, office, or travel setup where reading or burning discs from a PC or Mac is part of the task.
