## Description

This long gauntlet-style glove protects hands and forearms when working with animals or handling hot or sharp objects. These leather animal handling gloves combine a 23.6 inch length and reinforced palms to reduce the risk of bites and scratches, making them useful for vets, bird handlers and people who need extra protection when training or restraining animals.

## Key Points

The glove uses thick shoulder split cowhide leather and layered reinforcements across the fingers and back of the hand to resist punctures and clawing. **1.2mm shoulder split cowhide** adds weight and abrasion resistance while the extra length shields the forearm during grabs and sudden movements. For handlers of parrots, cats and small mammals this design helps keep control and reduces skin tears from sharp beaks or claws. 🐦

Stitching is made with high strength fibre to extend service life under repeated stress, and adjustable cuffs help hold the glove in place during activity. The material also tolerates contact with heat and rough surfaces, which means the gloves can be used around barbecues, stoves and open fires as well as in the garden. Note that the glove is heavy compared with thin utility gloves, which can reduce dexterity for very fine tasks.

## Usage Recommendations

For animal handling start by fitting the glove firmly and tightening the cuff so it cannot slip during a struggle. When working with birds or reptiles support the animal securely while using the glove to intercept bites or scratches, and practice restraint techniques that minimise stress for the animal. For grilling or furnace work allow time for the leather to cool and avoid direct flame contact for extended periods, as extreme heat can char leather over time. 🔥

Consider cleaning the gloves by gentle brushing and spot wiping with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking leather in water or using harsh detergents as this can stiffen the hide and reduce flexibility. Over time leather will soften with use but may also show scuffs that are cosmetic rather than structural. 🧤
