## Description

This set of crampons from Unigear adds extra traction for winter walking and light mountaineering, helping you stay steady on ice and packed snow while out on trails or urban routes. With an improved 18-spike layout and a flexible TPE rubber harness, these ice cleats aim to combine grip, portability and quick fitting for everyday winter use.

## Key Points

The crampons feature 18 stainless steel spikes arranged with six at the heel and 12 across the forefoot to distribute pressure and improve purchase on slippery surfaces. Each spike measures 1.27 cm in length, which increases bite on ice compared with smaller, fewer spikes. The elastic TPE harness is abrasion resistant and thicker than some basic models, allowing for a faster fit over a variety of boots and shoes, and the kit includes an extra Velcro strap for a more secure hold. Weighing about 0.44 kg in total and supplied with a small carry pouch, they are easy to store in a rucksack and convenient to carry for sudden icy sections.

## Technical Specifications

- **Name: Unigear Crampons for Hiking Boots**
- Material: stainless steel spikes, TPE rubber harness
- Spikes: 18 total, 6 heel and 12 forefoot
- Spike length: 1.27 cm
- Weight: 0.44 kg (pair)
- Accessories: extra Velcro strap, storage pouch

## Benefits

These ice cleats offer a balance between grip and lightness, making them suitable for walkers who need enhanced traction without the bulk of full mountaineering crampons. The stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance, according to the manufacturer, which helps with durability in wet, salty or slushy conditions. The thicker TPE band reduces the chance of tearing during repeated fits and removals, and the extra strap increases confidence that the unit will stay in place during short hikes or commutes.

## Usage Recommendations

Fit the rubber harness over clean footwear, then fasten the additional Velcro strap if required for a tighter connection. They are best used on packed snow, icy paths and hard-packed trails where small spikes can grip effectively. Consider that these are not rigid technical crampons for complex glacier travel or steep ice climbing, and they are not intended for use on smooth indoor floors or delicate decking since the spikes may damage such surfaces. For more demanding alpine routes, a full set of mountaineering crampons with toe and heel bindings would be more appropriate.

Note: **Unigear Crampons for Hiking Boots** may not suit very wide or very narrow footwear without checking fit first, and manufacturer guidance recommends avoiding extended use on hard surfaces like concrete to prevent rapid wear of the spikes and reduced traction over time.
