TopEsct Kids Case for 9.7-inch iPads (6th/5th Gen, Air 1st/2nd Gen, Pro 2016) with Built-in Kickstand, Handle and Strap – Pink
Product description
What it is
TopEsct’s silicone case is designed for a range of popular 9.7-inch iPads, offering a kid-friendly protective solution that mixes grip, impact protection and practicality. The case accepts models from the iPad 5th and 6th generations, iPad Air 1st/2nd generations, and the iPad Pro 9.7-inch 2016, with precise cut-outs to keep all ports and buttons accessible. The standout features are a built-in kickstand, a grip handle, and a removable shoulder strap that doubles as a way to hang the device from a car headrest. On the surface it looks like a simple protective cover, but its design aims to reduce accidental drops and encourage hands‑free viewing when needed.
How it’s built and what that means
On the outside it’s a soft, silicone shell which is non-slip and easy to wipe clean—handy for little fingerprints and spills. The silicone material is described as kid-friendly and scratch-resistant, which suggests it should hold up to daily use by children who are still learning how to handle a tablet with care. The precision cut-outs ensure functionality isn’t sacrificed for protection, so you can still access cameras, speakers and charging ports without removing the case.
The best and the not-so-perfect parts
What stands out here is the combination of a protective shell with practical add-ons: the built-in kickstand helps when watching videos or following along with apps, while the handle and strap make carrying easier and safer on the move. The trade-off is that silicone cases can feel bulkier than slimmer shells, which may affect pocket or bag fit. Some users might find the strap handy for car journeys, while others may not use it at all.
Who it’s for
This case is aimed at families with younger users who need a sturdy, easy-to-grip cover and value features that support on-the-go use—think school tablets, car journeys or casual home use where drops are a real possibility. It’s suitable if you want reasonable protection without resorting to heavy-duty rugged cases.
Who it’s not ideal for
If you prioritise a minimal, unobtrusive form factor or you’re seeking the very slimmest profile, this silicone case will feel chunky by comparison. It may also be less appealing if you require waterproofing or more advanced protective features beyond basic shock resistance.
When it makes sense to buy
Consider this case when you want child-friendly handling, straightforward cleaning, and easy access to all iPad functions. The built-in kickstand and carry strap add practical value for everyday use, especially for kids who spend time watching videos or using educational apps on the move.
What to check before buying
- Confirm your iPad model matches one listed (6th/5th Gen, Air 1st/2nd Gen, Pro 9.7 2016).
- Consider how you’ll use the strap: is car headrest hanging or hand-held use your priority?
- Remember silicone can attract dust, regular cleaning helps maintain grip and appearance.
How it compares to other approaches
If you’re weighing protection vs. bulk, this case sits in the mid-range: more protective than a slim shell, but not as bulky as full rugged solutions. For everyday family use, it offers a sensible balance between grip, protection and practicality, without promising premium waterproofing or advanced tech features.
Practical example of use
Imagine a trip to the park where a child is watching an educational video. The built-in kickstand props the iPad upright on a blanket, while the handle gives a secure grip during a snack break. If a sudden bump happens, the silicone cover absorbs some impact and keeps the screen away from immediate damage.

Final decision
Is it worth it?
Worth considering if you prioritise child-friendly handling and convenient on-the-go use. It makes sense for families seeking practical protection with a built-in stand and carry options, without paying for premium features you may not need. If you want the slimmest profile or waterproofing, you might look elsewhere.
