## Description

This battery‑powered video doorbell from Tapo brings clearer door monitoring with **2K 5MP** resolution and a wide 160° field of view, useful for spotting visitors from head to toe even close to the door. It suits front‑door use where low‑light detail and flexible installation matter, and it works without a monthly subscription according to the manufacturer. The first paragraph sets the intent, so you know this is for everyday home monitoring and package security.

## Key takeaways

The Tapo TD23 emphasises clear day and night capture with a starlight sensor and an embedded spotlight for colour night vision, which helps identify faces and parcels after dusk. It also offers two‑way audio and recorded quick responses, useful when you need to speak to delivery drivers without opening the door. These features make it a practical choice for those wanting a straightforward smart doorbell with local storage options.

## Why it makes sense

A rechargeable removable battery and a low‑power protocol aim to extend time between charges, which reduces maintenance and keeps the unit online longer. Smart AI detection separates people, pets, packages and cars for more relevant notifications, so you get fewer false alerts. There is also a ring chime included for in‑home alerts.

## Getting the most from it

You’ll like it if you value clear imaging at night and flexible mounting options, because the unit supports wedge adjustments to fine‑tune views. It might not be a great match if you require continuous wired power or professional monitoring, since it is described as battery operated and focused on app control and local flexibility. Keep in mind that some advanced cloud services may require subscriptions not covered here, according to the product notes.
