## Description

## What it is
The SmallRig 4197B is a plastic, lightweight sling handle designed to attach to the DJI RS 3 Mini and RS 4 Mini gimbals. It focuses on reducing arm fatigue during low-angle shooting and helps maintain stabilisation by keeping weight balanced.

## How it helps your setup
With a built-in rosette joint, this grip offers up to 180° of adjustment, giving you flexibility to shoot from a range of angles. The compact design keeps the overall profile modest while the grip remains sturdy enough to feel confident during extended sessions.

## Core specs you can rely on
Despite its light construction at around 220g, the handle is rated to support a load up to 6kg. It uses a NATO clamp for quick attachment and includes an anti-removal stud on the rail to prevent accidental detachment during shoots.

## Where it fits best
The sling handgrip complements gimbals looking to add stability and a lower centre of gravity in briefcase/underslung configurations. It also provides additional mounting options, including several 1/4°-20 threads and two cold shoe mounts for accessories like monitors or wireless receivers.

## Real-world practicalities
If your aim is to reduce arm strain on longer shoots or to access new angles without compromising balance, this grip can be a helpful addition. It’s not a universal upgrade for every RS system—note that it’s not compatible with DJI RS 3 (non-mini), RS 3 Pro, RS 2 or RSC 2. For those wider models, a different SmallRig sling handgrip would be required.

## What to look out for
While the 4197B brings tangible advantages in terms of adjustability and mounting options, its plastic construction means it may feel less premium than metal alternatives. Depending on your typical rig weight and shooting style, you may want to evaluate how it balances with your other accessories.

## Who it’s for
If you own a DJI RS 3 Mini or RS 4 Mini and want a lighter, compact handgrip that aids low-angle shooting and offers quick-access mounting points, this should fit into your kit. It’s particularly useful for handheld sessions where arm comfort and balance matter more than raw rigidity.

## When it makes sense to buy
Consider this grip when you’re setting up for longer handheld takes or when you need additional mounting versatility without adding significant weight.

## When you might skip it
If your priority is maximum build quality from metal components, or if you require compatibility with other DJI models beyond the Mini line, you may prefer alternative solutions or different SmallRig configurations.

## Quick checks before purchasing
Confirm compatibility with your specific gimbal model (RS 3 Mini or RS 4 Mini). Ensure you’re comfortable with a predominantly plastic grip and that the added weight and balance align with your shooting style. Check that you’re satisfied with the horizontal positioning afforded by the 180° rosette adjustment and the accessibility of the NATO clamp.

## Usage example
Imagine a low-angle handheld shot where you need to keep the camera steady while reaching under an overhead setup. The sling handle lets you cradle the gimbal more naturally, easing fatigue and helping you maintain a controlled motion across a longer take.

## FAQ
- Is this grip compatible with DJI RS 3 Pro or RS 2? No, it is specified for RS 3 Mini and RS 4 Mini only.
- Can I attach monitors or receivers directly to the handle? Yes, it includes two cold shoe mounts and multiple 1/4‑20 threads for accessories.
- How much weight can the grip reliably carry? The design supports up to 6kg, while remaining a lightweight accessory.
- Does it fix firmly to the gimbal? It uses a NATO clamp with an anti-removal stud to help secure the joint.

## Is it worth it?
Worth considering if you prioritise lower fatigue and better angle flexibility on DJI RS 3 Mini or RS 4 Mini, without wanting to add substantial bulk to the setup. If you value premium materials over lightness, or need broader compatibility, you may want to compare with metal alternatives or different SmallRig handgrips.
