Benefits
The unit’s adjustable hard stops let you mark two focal positions for fast returns during takes, while a lock switches between unlimited 360° rotation and A/B stop mode. The silicone gear is designed for lenses matching M0.8-43T teeth, which keeps engagement smooth according to the manufacturer. A tactile dial with an anti-slip surface gives a confident grip and good damping for controlled pulls.
Best use cases
Its modular layout makes the 3010 simple to fit on the left or top of a camera, and the included 1050 15 mm rod plus NATO rail clamp lets you add other SmallRig accessories to keep your setup compact. It’s practical for run-and-gun documentary shoots, indie film work and small studio productions where a lightweight, reliable follow focus helps speed workflows.
Who it suits
It’s a good fit if you want a portable mechanical follow focus that supports repeatable zoom marks and integrates with a rod-mounted rig. Take into account that the silicone gear only fits M0.8-43T specifications, so check your lens gearing before purchase. SMALLRIG 3010 balances compactness and usability for everyday video work.
