## Description

## What it is
The SIRUI AM-THC Top Handle is a lightweight aluminium top grip designed to attach to a camera cage via a built‑in cold shoe mount. It includes an L-shaped hex wrench to help tighten screws firmly, aiming to keep accessories secure during shoots.

## How it helps
This top handle offers a stable hand grip for low-angle or over-the-shoulder work, with a silicone coating that adds friction for a firmer hold. The design addresses common concerns about accessory detachment by including three built‑in cold shoes, two of which have safety pins to prevent accidental loosening when a microphone, light, monitor, or other accessory is mounted.

## Key features
- Cold shoe adapter with safety pin system to reduce the risk of attachments slipping loose
- CNC-machined aluminium alloy construction with black anodised finish for corrosion resistance and scratch protection
- Lightweight at 150 g, yet capable of supporting a load up to 22 lbs / 10 kg
- Silicone‑coated top handle for a comfortable, non‑slip grip and improved control on low angles
- Multiple mounting points including 1/4‑20 and ARRI 3/8‑16, enabling a range of accessories like arms, clamps, and counterweights
- Supplied with an L‑shaped hex wrench for secure fastening

## What to know
On paper, this is a compact and versatile top handle that integrates with a camera cage rather than being a standalone accessory. If you routinely attach several peripherals (mics, lights, monitors) to your cage, the spare cold shoe pins can be a real asset. Do note that the overall system relies on the cage’s compatibility with cold shoe placements and the available 1/4‑20/ARRI mounts.

## Who it’s for
If you shoot with a cage and value a lightweight, secure grip that allows easy mounting of auxiliary gear, this top handle could fit well. It suits documentary, run‑and‑gun, or studio setups where quick accessory changes and a comfortable handhold matter.

## Who it’s not for
If you’re after a feature‑rich hand grip with integrated power or a built-in monitor arm, this is a simpler top handle without those capabilities. It also isn’t a replacement for larger, dedicated handles if you require extensive load distribution for heavier rigs.

## Before you buy
- Check compatibility with your camera cage’s cold shoe positions and the available mounting points on the handle
- Consider whether you need additional anti‑twist security beyond the safety pins and the supplied hex wrench
- Think about how the weight of your gear balances with the 150 g handle and the 22 lbs / 10 kg load rating
- If you frequently rely on very tight space work, test the reach and whether the silicone grip aids control in confined angles

## Practical use example
During a run‑and‑gun interview, you can grip the top handle to steady the cage while a wireless mic mounted on the top shoe sits securely in place, thanks to the safety pin system. When you need to swap a small LED panel for a b‑roll shot, the multiple mounting points let you reconfigure quickly without reassembling the whole rig.

## Alternatives and how this compares
If you’re choosing between a basic cage handle and a pro‑grade top handle, this model sits in the compact, lightweight segment with practical mounting flexibility. It won’t replace a larger, purpose‑built matte box or external monitor arm, but it offers a pragmatic balance of comfort, security, and minimal weight for everyday use.

## Is it worth it?
Is it worth it? Worth considering if you prioritise a light, secure grip with several mounting options and a focus on avoiding accidental detachment of accessories. If your rig relies on a tidy, modular approach with easy accessory swaps, this top handle should fit into your setup without adding substantial weight. If you need heavier‑duty handling or more integrated features, you may want to look at more feature‑rich options.

## FAQ
- Can this top handle support my microphone and small light simultaneously?
It is designed with three cold shoes and safety pins for secure attachment, however, verify your total accessory weight and balance to avoid overloading the rig.
- Does it come with all mounting hardware needed?
The description notes an included L‑shaped hex wrench for tightening, verify if any additional screws or plates are required for your cage model.
- How does the grip feel in cold or wet conditions?
The silicone coating offers a non‑slip surface, which helps in various weather or grip situations, but care should be taken in slippery conditions to maintain control.
