## Description

This compact wireless thermometer and hygrometer from X-Sense is intended to monitor temperature and humidity around the home or in specialised spaces, providing timely alerts and remote access when used with the required SBS50 base station. It helps track environmental conditions for greenhouses, humidors, terrariums and multi-storey properties, with smartphone notifications for out-of-range readings.

## Key Points

The STH51 is an accessory sensor that requires the SBS50 base station to function. According to the manufacturer, it uses a Swiss-made high-precision sensor that measures temperature to ±0.2°C across a range of -20 to 60°C and humidity to ±2% RH across 0–100% RH. Outdoor transmission range reaches up to 500 m under ideal conditions, so it can communicate with the base station across larger properties and between floors. The unit includes two AAA batteries, a lanyard and an adhesive pad for flexible placement, and it is compact enough to fit inside small enclosures at 3.5 × 2.2 × 9.4 cm.

## Technical Specifications

- Name: **X-Sense STH51**
- Sensor accuracy: ±0.2°C (temperature), ±2% RH (humidity)
- Measurement range: -20–60°C, 0–100% RH
- Power: 2 × AAA batteries included
- Dimensions: 3.5 × 2.2 × 9.4 cm
- Transmission range: up to 500 m outdoor (manufacturer stated)

## Usage Recommendations

Place the sensor where it will reflect the environment you need to monitor rather than directly in sunlight or close to heat sources. For enclosed spaces such as humidors or terrariums, the small form factor and included strap make positioning straightforward. Connect the sensor to the SBS50 base station and set preferred alert thresholds in the app so the system sends push notifications and triggers the base station alarm when readings go beyond your chosen limits. Bear in mind that the STH51 will not operate independently without the base station, so plan installations with that requirement in mind.

## Technical Details

- App features include real-time remote monitoring, curve graphs with minimum, maximum and average values, unit switching between °C and °F and low battery alerts.
- Cloud storage: free cloud storage for historical data with export of the previous year’s records according to the manufacturer.
- Alerts: adjustable range settings, tone options and push notifications to mobile devices.

Note a possible limitation: performance depends on the base station placement and local radio conditions, and restored network reconnection is required to recover the most recent cloud-synchronised data.
