## Description

## Key features

This compact electric sharpener combines versatility and convenience for classrooms, studios and home use. The Rapesco 1449 PS12-USB is an automatic unit that accepts both standard and jumbo pencils, so artists and pupils can switch tools without changing machines. It runs from a supplied USB cable or four AA batteries, offering a portable option for those who move between desks or outdoor sketching.

## Technical details

- Name: Rapesco 1449 PS12-USB
- Type: Automatic electric pencil sharpener
- Size: Dual hole for 6-8 mm and 9-12 mm pencils
- Material: Carbon steel blades
- Colour: Black
- Power: USB cable included or 4 x AA batteries

## Benefits

The dual hole design sharpens round, triangular and hexagonal pencils including coloured, drawing and graphite types. The durable carbon steel blades give a consistent point and the removable sharpening units make cleaning straightforward. For steady use the chip box has a large capacity and anti-slip foam pads keep the unit stable on a desk.

## How to use it

Place the pencil into the appropriate hole then let the automatic mechanism do the work, removing the pencil when the desired point is reached. The sharpener averages 10-12 pencils per minute according to the manufacturer, making it practical for moderate classroom or studio workloads. It also includes a sliding safety cover over the larger hole and an automatic cut-off when the shavings cover is removed.

## Who it suits

It’s a good fit if you need a reliable, portable sharpener that handles both standard and jumbo pencils and offers simple maintenance. Worth considering if you work with mixed pencil types and value a USB power option alongside battery operation.
