## Description

## What it is and what it’s for
Protexin Equine Horse & Pony Gut Balancer is a daily digestive aid designed for horses and ponies. It combines a probiotic yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) with dual‑action prebiotics to support gut health, fibre digestion and nutrient absorption. The product sits on a palatable alfalfa base, intended to help steady daily intake across a range of horses, including those that are working, travelling or undergoing dietary changes.

## How it works
On the gut “on paper,” the probiotic yeast provides a potential boost to microbial balance, while Preplex prebiotics (fructo‑oligosaccharide and gum arabic) are meant to nourish beneficial bacteria. The combination is aimed at maintaining a balanced intestinal environment and supporting digestive efficiency during everyday use as well as periods of stress or routine changes.

## Who it’s for
If you’re looking for a steady, general digestive support for a horse or pony, especially during work, travel, or dietary shifts, this balancer is positioned for routine use rather than a specialised medical regimen. It may suiters prioritising a palatable mix that’s easy to administer and keep consistent in a daily routine.

## What stands out
- Probiotic component: Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a well-known yeast probiotic that can support gut function when fed regularly.
- Prebiotic support: Preplex combines FOS and gum arabic to help nurture beneficial gut bacteria.
- Palatability: The alfalfa base is designed to aid acceptance by horses and ponies.
- Compliance: Beta NOPs accreditation under FEI Clean Sport guidelines means it’s considered suitable for competition contexts, subject to official rules.

## What may not convince some buyers
- It’s a general, daily support product rather than a targeted therapeutic. If you need a solution for a specific digestive issue, you might require a different approach or veterinary guidance.
- The effectiveness of probiotics and prebiotics can vary between individual animals and situations, results are not guaranteed and depend on a range of factors including feed, workload and stress levels.

## How to use and what to check
- Follow the feeding instructions on the pack to determine daily amounts based on weight and level of activity.
- Introduce gradually if switching from another supplement to minimise any digestive upset.
- Consider your horse’s current diet and workload, during intense training or travel, a short acclimatisation period can help integration.
- Always ensure clean, fresh water is available and monitor for any behavioural or appetite changes that could indicate intolerance or an unsettled gut.

## Practical use case
Imagine a horse transitioning from winter feeding to a busier work schedule and new environments during the season. A daily gut balancer with a familiar palatable base can smooth the adjustment, supporting fibre digestion as forage patterns shift and training intensity rises.

## How it compares to other approaches
If you’re weighing options for gut support, you might consider a general probiotic alone, a prebiotic/polysaccharide blend, or a product with different probiotic strains. This balance leans on a combined probiotic and prebiotic approach, plus a palatable base, which can be convenient for daily use without adding extra flavours that may affect intake. It isn’t a replacement for veterinary‑advised solutions where a specific condition is diagnosed.

## What’s included
700 g tub designed for regular dosing, with an alfalfa base intended to help acceptance and consistent daily intake.

## FAQ (short answers)
- Is it suitable for competition horses? Yes, it carries FEI Clean Sport accreditation (Beta NOPs) and is intended for regular use, though always verify current competition rules.
- Can it be used during travel? It’s presented as a daily gut balancer that may help during periods of stress and changes in routine.
- Will it replace medication for digestive issues? No, this is a general digestive support product and not a substitute for veterinary treatment if a specific condition is suspected.
