Portal Double Camping Chair padded folding camping sofa (272KG load) with pockets & bottle opener
Product description
What it is and why you might want it
The Portal double camping chair is a padded folding camping sofa designed for two adults, with a robust steel tube frame and a stated total load capacity of 272KG. On paper, it’s aimed at people who want proper sit-down comfort outdoors without faffing about with flimsy seating that feels like it won’t last.
If your camping trips, garden hangouts or fishing days involve sharing a seat, this kind of “two-person” format can be a lot more practical than two separate fold-up chairs. You’re also getting a more lounge-like setup, rather than a standard camp stool vibe.
Key features that actually matter on outdoor days
What stands out most is the combination of structure, padding and storage. The frame uses reinforced steel tube for stability, and the seat comes with a quilted-style padded build: PP cotton padding described as 6cm thick, plus a polyester cover with a “peach-skin” style feel. That’s the sort of spec that can make long sessions more comfortable, especially when you’re sat around a lake, at the garden, or waiting at a fishing spot.
It’s also not just a blank seat. There’s a side pocket area and an integrated drinks support with a bottle opener built in, plus a large rear pocket for items you don’t want loose in the bag. Depending on how you plan a day out, that can mean snacks, a book, or your mobile staying organised and reachable.
One small point to keep in mind: while the padding sounds inviting for comfort, camping furniture like this is still outdoors seating. If you expect “indoor sofa” levels of cushioning on very uneven ground, you may want a suitable mat or base for extra comfort.

Where it fits (and who it suits)
This is a sensible choice if you prioritise sturdiness and shared seating. It also suits buyers who care about comfort for longer periods: thick padding plus a soft-feel cover is the kind of combination that can make a difference when you’re sitting for hours.
It’s also the sort of chair you’ll likely appreciate at a festival, in the garden lawn or during picnic days, where you want a compact fold-and-go setup but still want storage for small essentials.
If you’re the type of person who likes “everything to hand” (bottle opener within reach, pockets for snacks and personal items), the layout makes practical sense.
Limitations to be aware of before buying
It’s easy to assume that a padded double sofa is automatically comfortable everywhere, but the real-world experience will depend on your ground. Hard or uneven surfaces can still make any folding chair feel less forgiving than a sofa indoors.
Another thing to consider is space and transport habits. The chair folds and includes a carry strap and storage bag, which helps with moving and storage at home, but if you’re tight on storage or frequently travelling with limited luggage space, it’s worth picturing how the folded size will work for your setup—because not all “folding” camping furniture packs away the same.
Quick look: what to check in the listing
Before you commit, it’s worth double-checking the details that affect day-to-day use: the total load capacity (given as 272KG), the padding thickness (listed as 6cm) and the storage layout (side pocket area, rear pocket, and the drinks support with bottle opener). Those are the elements that most affect whether this is “your kind of chair” or just another folding seat.
Also think about how you’ll use it: if you mostly picnic on flat grass, you’ll likely feel the benefit of the padding more. If you often sit on rough ground, you may want a mat as a simple comfort upgrade.
Is it worth it?
Buy it if you want a sturdy double camping seat with proper padding, integrated storage and a more sofa-like feel for shared outdoor lounging. It’s especially worth considering if you’re regularly out for camping, garden days, fishing sessions, or festivals and you prefer having drinks and small essentials organised rather than scattered.
Skip it if you’re after lightweight “carry all day” furniture or you’re expecting indoor-cushion comfort on uneven ground without adding anything underneath. It may also feel like overkill if you only ever need a single seat or you’re happy with simpler, lower-profile folding chairs.
In short: it’s a practical, comfort-leaning double camping sofa on paper, with a load capacity and storage features that make a difference when two people are actually using it together.
