## Description

## What it is and what it solves
The PETLIBRO RFID Automatic Cat Feeder is a programmable device designed for households with multiple cats. It uses RFID collar tags to grant access only to the assigned cat, helping to prevent food stealing and support controlled diets, portions, and predictable meal times. If you’re managing a prescription diet or portion-controlled plan, this feeder offers a practical mechanism to reduce competitive eating and stress around feeding.

## How it works in practice
Owners can personalise portions and up to 10 meals per day for each cat via the PETLIBRO app. The feeder connects to Wi‑Fi, enabling remote feeding triggers, schedule adjustments, and status monitoring when you’re away from home. It records a feeding log automatically, which can help you notice changes in appetite or routine—useful for health tracking and early intervention.

## What stands out on paper
A key feature is the collar-tag access system, which keeps the lid shut to unauthorised pets and supports consistent feeding for households with several felines. The app-based control is convenient for busy households, travellers, or short-term care during holidays. Additionally, the unit includes a battery backup that keeps critical functions running during power outages, with RFID access and schedules remaining active for approximately 48–72 hours.

## Limitations and what it may not excel at
The system relies on compatible dry food within a kibble size range of about 2–15 mm, if your cat’s regular kibble falls outside this range, it may not feed reliably. Training timid eaters can be helped by adjustable lid opening speed, but some shy cats may still need a gradual acclimatisation period. If you live in a spot with unreliable Wi‑Fi, remote control features will be less frequent in practice.

## Who it’s for
This feeder is best for households with multiple cats where food guarding is a concern, or where precise portion control is important due to dietary needs. It’s also useful for owners who want a log of eating patterns and the flexibility to feed remotely when away from home.

## Who it’s not ideal for
If you primarily feed a single-cat household with straightforward feeding needs, or if your dry food routinely comes in kibble sizes outside the supported range, you may not gain as much value from the RFID access system. Also, if you favour completely offline operation without app interaction, the Wi‑Fi features won’t be fully utilised.

## What to check before buying
- Confirm your cat’s collar tag is compatible and correctly registered for access control.
- Ensure your dry food fits within the 2–15 mm size window and that you’re comfortable using up to 10 meals per cat per day.
- Consider your Wi‑Fi reliability, as remote feeding and logs depend on a stable connection.
- Review the battery backup duration to understand continuity during outages and how often you’ll need to swap or recharge batteries.

## How it compares to alternative approaches
If you don’t need multi-cat access control, a basic programmed feeder without RFID may suffice but won’t address food stealing between cats. Similarly, manual feeding or simple, non-networked devices lack remote monitoring and the feeding log. For households with peak schedules or stress around feeding times, the PETLIBRO approach offers a balance of automation and traceability without resorting to more complex systems.

## Practical usage example
Imagine returning home after a long day to see each cat fed on schedule, with no cross-purloined meals and a clear view of how much each cat ate today. You notice one cat has eaten less this week and check the feeding log via the app to evaluate whether a health issue or routine change is at play, then adjust portions or timing accordingly.

## Decision point
### Is it worth it?
Worth considering if you need controlled portions across multiple cats, remote feeding, and a feeding history. It makes sense for households where preventing food stealing and managing diets are priorities, provided your dry kibble suits the size requirements and your Wi‑Fi is dependable.

## FAQ
