## Description

This HDMI over Ethernet extender converts an HDMI source into a signal that can travel over UTP Cat5e/6/7 cable, making it easier to place a display up to 50 metres away. It is suitable for connecting a PC, games console or Blu-ray player to a remote screen and offers local monitoring with a loop-out port, which can be useful in small offices or home AV setups.

## Key Points

The unit transmits Full HD up to 1080p and supports a 4K signal at 30Hz for situations where higher resolution is required, according to the manufacturer. It includes an HDMI loop-out on the transmitter so you can feed a nearby display while sending the main signal over Ethernet, helping with monitoring or local playback. An IR extension kit is supplied so you can control the source remotely from the receiver end, which simplifies operation when the source is out of sight. 🔌

Image compression is handled using M-JPEG processing to reduce bandwidth with minimal visible loss, and the extender claims zero loss for a range of common HDMI formats including 480i, 480p, 576i, 720p and 1080p at the listed frame rates. Consider that 4K performance is limited to 30Hz, so it may not suit high-frame-rate 4K gaming or applications that require 60Hz. 🎮

## Usage Recommendations

For the best results run good quality Cat5e or Cat6 cable and avoid long runs with many connectors or poor terminations, as these can affect signal reliability. Use the loop-out to place a local display for configuration or monitoring while the receiver drives the remote screen. If you need remote control of the source from the display end, connect the supplied windband IR Tx and Rx cables as indicated in the manual so IR commands pass through the extender. 📺

Note that this solution is optimised for video distribution and presentations where 30Hz 4K is acceptable according to the manufacturer. For demanding 4K 60Hz content or very high refresh-rate gaming, consider alternatives that explicitly support higher frame rates.
