Product description

The NEEWER 2 in 1 Variable ND Filter 46mm combines a variable neutral density and a circular polariser in a single slim mount, making it easier to shoot motion blur and cut reflections in bright conditions. It suits photographers and hybrid shooters who need quick control of exposure and glare without swapping filters, and it works with any lens sporting a 46mm thread.

Key features

This filter reduces light by 1–5 stops according to the manufacturer and lets you fine tune exposure by rotating the outer frame. The polariser function reduces reflections from water, glass and other shiny surfaces and helps deepen skies when used on landscape shots. The self locking mechanism is designed to prevent the dark cross shadow sometimes seen on variable NDs when used on wide angle lenses, so you can keep a wider field of view without obvious artefacts.

Technical details

  • Name: NEEWER 2 in 1 Variable ND Filter 46mm
  • Type: Variable ND and CPL combined
  • Size: 46mm thread
  • Material: HD optical glass
  • Finish: Multilayered nano coatings
  • Weight: not specified

What you’ll notice day to day

The frame is CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminium alloy and has a non slip texture that makes fitting and removing the filter straightforward. Laser etched markers help you dial between the minimum ND2 and maximum ND32 stops reliably, although the exact effect will depend on your lens and camera settings. The ultra thin profile reduces the chance of vignetting on many lenses but remember very wide angle setups can still vary depending on the optical design.

How to use it

Fit the filter to any lens with a 46mm thread and confirm the thread diameter on your lens before buying. First set the ND density, then rotate the outer ring to engage the polariser effect as needed. It is useful for long exposures in daylight and for cutting reflections on water and glass. It’s a good fit if you want a compact, versatile filter that saves time on set while offering basic protection for the front element of your lens.

The product features hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings to resist water, oil, dust and scratches, and its slim front diameter means some lens caps or hoods may require a 49mm fit according to the manufacturer.
