## Description

## What it is and what it isn't
Needs&Gifts offers a natural Himalayan salt lamp weighing between 2 and 3 kg, crafted by hand and sourced from the foothills of the Himalayas. Each lamp is unique in colour, ranging from pale pink to deeper orange tones, and stands roughly 17–21 cm tall. The lamp comes with a complete electric fitting, a pygmy bulb, and a UK 3-pin plug with an on/off switch. It’s designed to function as mood lighting, a desk lamp, or a small table lamp, and is marketed as an authentic product imported directly for UK customers.

## How it fits into daily life
If you’re after a natural lighting option with a warm ambience, this lamp can add a calming glow to living rooms, bedrooms or desks. The stand-alone plug-in design means you don’t need batteries, and the CE-certified fittings aim to simplify safe operation. The natural variability of the lamps means you’ll get a distinctive item, rather than a uniform factory finish.

## What stands out on paper
On the positive side, the lamp is genuinely handmade and uses 100% natural Himalayan salt. The package includes everything needed to get started: a bulb, proper fittings, and a UK plug. The claim that Himalayan salt lamps release negative ions that may affect mood and health is noted, though the claims aren’t universally supported by scientific evidence.

## Limitations and caveats to keep in mind
Be aware that the colour and shape will vary from lamp to lamp because they’re natural crystals. The health-related benefits are anecdotal, and the manufacturer acknowledges this with a cautious stance. Also, as a mains-powered lamp, it depends on your electrical supply and won’t work with batteries. Consider whether the size (2–3 kg, 17–21 cm tall) fits your space before purchase.

## Who it’s for
This lamp is well suited to anyone seeking ambient lighting with a natural aesthetic. It can suit a cosy living room corner, a warm desk setup, or a bedside table where a soft, amber glow helps create a relaxing atmosphere. It’s a practical option if you prefer a minimal, unplugged-going aesthetic and value a product with a traditional craft element.

## Who it’s not ideal for
If you need a brighter or more uniform light, this lamp may feel limited due to its natural variability and the typical low-wattage bulb used in decorative lamps. Those seeking robust, high-output lighting or precise, consistent performance across multiple units might look elsewhere. Moreover, if you prioritise scientifically proven health benefits, you’ll find the evidence inconclusive.

## When it makes sense to buy
Choose this lamp if you want a natural, handmade piece that doubles as mood lighting and fits a UK mains outlet. It works best in spaces where a soft, warm glow contributes to ambience rather than task lighting. The value comes from authenticity, craft, and the simplicity of a complete plug-and-play setup.

## What to check before buying
Verify the space where you’ll place it aligns with the lamp’s height and footprint. Confirm that the UK plug and on/off switch are accessible in your chosen location. If possible, assess the colour tone you prefer, knowing that natural lamps vary from pale pink to orange.

## Practical usage example
Imagine winding down after a long day with a dim, amber light beside a book. The lamp’s natural glow creates a calm environment without harsh brightness, helping to ease into evening routines. It can also serve as a subtle desk light during late work sessions, adding a touch of natural decor to your workspace.

## Quick comparison context
Against more standard desk lamps, this lamp emphasises natural materials and handcrafted charm over consistent lighting levels. If you prioritise a purely functional light, a conventional LED desk lamp might be more predictable, if you value a natural aesthetic and a statement piece, this Himalayan lamp could be more appealing.

## FAQ
**What energy does it use?** It uses a pygmy bulb with a complete electric fitting for a UK socket. CE certified fittings are included.
**Is the light too dim for reading?** It’s designed for ambient lighting rather than high-brightness task lighting, so it may not be ideal for focused reading in a dark room.
**Are all lamps the same colour?** No—each lamp is unique, with natural variation in colour and shape.

## Final decision
- Is it worth it? Worth considering if you value natural materials, handcrafted appeal, and ambient lighting in a UK plug format. It may not be the best choice if you need bright task lighting or scientifically proven health benefits.
