On paper, that “den effect” is the point: dogs often settle better when they have a quieter, more sheltered space, and the cover can also help limit visual distraction. A common reason people buy a crate cover is to take the edge off anxious behaviours such as barking and chewing. It’s not magic, and it won’t fix boredom or separation issues by itself, but if your dog reacts to activity outside the crate, having a darker, more private environment can make day-to-day routines feel easier. ## Key takeaways before you buy This is a cover only. The listing is for the crate cover, not the crate or the bedding. It’s also worth noting that this cover is designed for crates with side door access. The flaps can be lifted for adjustable visibility and ventilation, but it’s not stated as suitable for top-door crates. If your current crate opens from the top, you may end up disappointed. In terms of fit, it’s aimed at the majority of 106 cm metal standard-style crates. The cover measures approximately 106.7 x 71.1 x 76.2 cm. ## What stands out in everyday use The most practical benefit is how it changes the crate atmosphere. With the cover in place, the kennel becomes less “public” and more restful, which is especially useful in busy rooms or during evenings when there’s more movement. It also uses a light 100% polyester fabric with Velcro tabs to keep it positioned. That matters because a loose cover can slip or sag, while Velcro tabs are the kind of simple, no-fuss holding method that tends to stay in place during normal crate use. A quick micro-scenario: if your dog barks at people passing by the living room, fitting the cover can help reduce what they can see. Then, if you want a bit more interaction or airflow, you lift the relevant flap to open up the viewing area rather than removing the cover completely. ## Materials, ventilation and how “den-like” it feels The cover is made from lightweight black polyester, designed to be breathable rather than fully sealed. The flaps lift for visibility and ventilation adjustment, which is useful because “more privacy” isn’t always what you want all the time—some dogs settle more when they can still see you. Also, because it’s fabric, it may not feel as rigid or structured as hard crate accessories. It’s a soft privacy layer, so expect it to drape and shape with the crate rather than look like a rigid enclosure. ## Washing and maintenance One of the easiest parts of owning this cover is the upkeep. It’s machine washable, and the listing says it’s also tumble dryer safe, so cleaning doesn’t require tools or complicated steps. If you’ve ever had a washable pet item that takes forever to dry, you’ll appreciate that this one is explicitly made to be dryer-friendly—though, as always, follow the care instructions on the product itself. ## Tech specs - Size: approximately 106.7 x 71.1 x 76.2 cm - Material: 100% polyester - Colour: black - Fit target: designed to suit most 106 cm crates - Door compatibility: supports single, double and triple front door access (not for top door crates) - Attachment: Velcro tabs to help keep it in place - Care: machine washable, tumble dryer safe ## Is it worth it? A solid pick if you’re trying to make a 106 cm metal dog crate feel calmer and more secure, particularly if your dog shows nervousness around what’s happening outside the kennel. It’s also a practical choice if you want something breathable that can be adjusted using the door flaps. You may want to skip it if your crate is top-door only, or if you’re expecting the cover to be a full fix for chewing/barking without addressing the underlying cause. And because this is a cover only, double-check that you already have a compatible crate (and any bedding you plan to use), since those aren’t included. ## Small FAQ ## How do the door flaps work? The cover has flaps that lift to let you control visibility and ventilation. That means you can keep the “privacy” effect when needed, then open it up when you want your dog to see more. ## Is it suitable for top-door crates? The listing states it’s not apt for top-door crates. If your crate door is on the top, you should treat this as a mismatch. ## What size crate does it fit? It’s designed for the majority of 106 cm crates and measures approximately 106.7 x 71.1 x 76.2 cm. ## Can it be machine washed? Yes—it's machine washable, and it’s also suitable for tumble drying. ## What’s included in the purchase? Only the crate cover is included. The crate and bed are sold separately. ## Images ![MidWest Homes for Pets Large Dog Crate Cover \(106 cm\) – Black Polyester Privacy Kennel Cover — 1](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/6V1GA1CjSm700IXguesCKurKWVHOqQodHsqH5SJ4J_N0A9qelHc1NSob0R0anOhEgBZhdWbynxvIueP5WItwFHYe5uLpajcK7kHxTH47Bxd9vy-f3Lmhi1svsg.jpg) ![MidWest Homes for Pets Large Dog Crate Cover \(106 cm\) – Black Polyester Privacy Kennel Cover — 2](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/1Lrzb54Sc8bI18tSAKcA4s0qsVTY45AW65LhOEL9L2nPSTaJ-DLT2em5e1Z4hiVhdtKhm02jWkTEuLDYDkvM-JW6aYHmgMzynB62I3YwOK9rOfht-BIQ6etlEA.jpg) ![MidWest Homes for Pets Large Dog Crate Cover \(106 cm\) – Black Polyester Privacy Kennel Cover — 3](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/Y5W3Cvv2WXhoBGlrsjhlLh6m--UXj5-k_Tb3FPRkOnS3xabGPvRiANj8XCI4g8buUJ_K5Ns2qR7aQGKOueZK7YrieU_YCoU6l4T8xloG1qtMhcjOqug7DGddWA.jpg) ![MidWest Homes for Pets Large Dog Crate Cover \(106 cm\) – Black Polyester Privacy Kennel Cover — 4](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/JNLp_pjMmv2f_duYE4jg6T9Y8ipO9KII9Fnr9aMh0XF_I5AEdWG8UZynTB1m14H2-bg8e69KOn3DqZIHNlW5Vg9k2MX2dYlHaw3KQwzEGzTJ6otyu8WczB9VMg.jpg) ![MidWest Homes for Pets Large Dog Crate Cover \(106 cm\) – Black Polyester Privacy Kennel Cover — 5](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/XOJVEY8bjfldYfnEqoZ7Fm2sAjGduFponm6M30E6m2qzB1wLgSqrtY86dwU7gNtFDm8nyQKX5vt9s3Rfzq6af-sSHgn1x8DbkemTYctCfrF71jDpQBgSTmrWBQ.jpg)
