## Description

This 2.0 active bookshelf speaker pair brings balanced sound and simple setup for desktops and TVs. Designed to fill a medium room, it suits music, movies and gaming with controlled bass and clear treble.

If you want reliable wireless streaming, the Bluetooth bookshelf speakers connect easily and stay stable during playback, according to the manufacturer. They work well near a PC or smartphone and provide enough volume for everyday listening 🍿.

If you prioritise compact cabinets over huge bass, these speakers offer a tidy footprint, while if you prefer deeper low end you may need an external subwoofer.

## At a glance

The Edifier R990BT combines a silk dome tweeter with a long-throw mid-low driver to produce a coherent stereo image. The digital amplifier supplies a combined **24W** of RMS power and applies dynamic range control for punch without obvious distortion. You can switch between preset sound modes in the app for Music, Movie or Gaming, or create a custom profile to suit your room and tastes. The Bluetooth connection aims to be stable with V5.4, and the MDF cabinet reduces unwanted resonance for cleaner playback. For quick wired use there are dual RCA ports and an AUX input, which makes switching sources straightforward 🎛️.

## Where it shines

Compact but assertive, these speakers excel at desktop listening and smaller lounge setups. The tuned bass reflex port adds weight to low frequencies without overwhelming mids, and the silk dome tweeter controls highs for a less fatiguing sound. The app control is useful for quick tone adjustments and saves user presets. Note that wireless interference from routers or microwaves can affect pairing, so moving the speaker a short distance often restores a stable link.

## Practical tips

Place the active speaker near your source for easier wiring and keep some clearance behind the cabinets to let the bass port breathe. Use the app presets to test different listening modes and fine tune to your room. If you need more sub-bass, consider adding a compact subwoofer rather than pushing these small cabinets beyond their intended range. 🎧
