## Description

This set of compostable kitchen sponges offers a sustainable alternative for everyday washing up, combining absorbent cellulose with a tougher scouring layer to tackle dried-on food and greasy pans. They come in a pack of eight so you can rotate sponges and reduce replacement frequency, helping to lower household waste and plastic use when cleaning dishes and surfaces.

## Key Points

These sponges are made from plant-based materials, with a soft cellulose side for gentle washing and a coarse fibre side for scrubbing stubborn marks. The design aims to dry quickly to reduce odour and bacterial build-up, and according to the manufacturer the materials are 100% natural. They work across dishes, cups, worktops and sinks, and the pack includes multiple units so you can reserve separate sponges for different tasks. 🌿

## Technical Specifications

- Name: **Yolaist 8 Pack Eco Sponge Washing up Compostable Kitchen Dish Sponge**
- Pack size: **8 sponges**
- Materials: **Cellulose wood fibre and coconut fibre**
- Compostability: 100% biodegradable according to the manufacturer
- Functions: Soft absorbent side plus heavy duty scouring pad

## Advantages

The soft side produces foam easily with just a small amount of washing-up liquid, which can save detergent. The scouring pad lifts baked-on residues without scratching most delicate surfaces, though caution is advisable on ultra-sensitive finishes. The quick-dry nature of the cellulose reduces lingering moisture and helps limit smells. 🌱

## Usage Recommendations

Rinse and wring the sponge after use and allow it to air dry upright where possible to assist evaporation. Keep a separate sponge for high-germ areas such as sinks or chopping boards to avoid cross-contamination, and replace worn pads when fibres no longer scrub effectively. Consider composting the sponge at the end of its usable life if you have access to a suitable home or municipal composting facility, as biodegradation times can vary depending on conditions.
