Callaway Hex Soft Golf Balls 2019 – White, 24 Ball Pack

What it is and who it’s for

The Callaway HEX Soft Golf Balls from 2019 are a distance ball designed to offer a softer feel without sacrificing distance. The 24-ball pack is aimed at players who value a balance between greenside feel and longer carries, with a focus on straighter flight for those who don’t strike every shot perfectly.

How it works in practice

On the page, the HEX Soft line is described as having HEX Aerodynamics to reduce drag and help with lift, contributing to longer carry and distance. The core is low compression, intended to boost ball speed and distance while still delivering noticeable feel around the greens. Reducing spin is another highlight, which helps tighten dispersion on weaker strikes and can lead to a more forgiving, straighter ball flight.

What stands out

If you prioritise a soft feel at impact combined with improved distance, this model aims to deliver through its low compression core and aerodynamic design. The reduced spin can make a difference for players who don’t always strike the centre consistently, potentially smoothing out dispersion.

Limitations to consider

On the downside, some players may not notice a dramatic feel difference if they already play a very soft-surfaced ball or if their swing is already well-tuned for accuracy. The description focuses on distance and forgiveness, but it’s not a universal guarantee, performance can vary with swing speed and course conditions.

Who it’s for

This is likely to appeal to mid-handicap players seeking more distance with a softer feel around the greens, and to those who benefit from reduced sidespin on mishits. If you already trade high spin for control, you may want to test whether the lower spin impacts short-game touch for you.

Who it isn’t perfect for

If you chase maximum greenside spin for precision or you have a very fast swing speed that compresses the ball differently, you might find other models better suit your needs. It’s not pitched as a pro-level control ball, but rather as a practical option for standard rounds and casual play.

When it makes sense to buy

Consider this pack if you want a ready-to-play option that pairs distance with a softer feel and improved forgiveness on imperfect strikes. The 24-ball box is convenient for regular practice and weekend rounds.

What to check before buying

• Confirm it’s the HEX Soft 2019 edition you want, as Callaway periodically updates lines.
• Consider your typical shot pattern: if you tend to generate a lot of backspin, gauge how a lower-spin design may change feel around greens.
• Assess whether you prefer a white cover for visibility in varying light conditions.

How it compares to other approaches

If you’ve been using a firmer distance ball, this HEX Soft model is a shift toward a gentler feel without necessarily compromising on distance. For those who prioritise raw distance with higher spin, a firmer model might still be preferable, for players who value short-game feel, a softer option can be a clearer win.

Practical usage example

During a front-nine on a cool day, you’ll likely notice a gentler impact feel and a more predictable flight on slightly off-centre hits, making long par-fours feel a touch more forgiving and greenside chips easier to judge if you’re used to stiffer balls.

FAQ

• Do these balls come in other pack sizes? The 24-ball pack is available, other pack configurations may exist but aren’t described here.
• Are they suitable for all swing speeds? The low compression core is designed to boost distance and feel, but performance will still vary with individual swing characteristics.
• Will I notice a difference off the tee or around the greens? The combination of reduced spin and HEX aerodynamics aims to deliver both straighter flight and softer feel around greens, results will depend on your contact and pace.

Is it worth it?

Worth considering if you prioritise a softer feel, distance with consistency, and a forgiving response on off-centre hits for regular rounds. If your gameplay leans more toward max spin or you need aggressive greenside control, you may want to compare with other options before buying.
