## Description

This high-rise hiking boot from Berghaus blends durable leather construction with modern comfort features for long days on uneven trails. It combines a Gore-Tex waterproof membrane with a VIBRAM rubber outsole to keep feet dry and grippy in wet conditions, making it suitable for hillwalking and multi-day routes.

## Key Points

The Hillmaster II GTX keeps the classic look of the original 1994 design while adding contemporary refinements for fit and support. Visco-elastic foam in the collar and tongue adapts to the shape of the ankle for a personalised feel, and locking eyelets let you control lace tension across the instep. According to the manufacturer, supportive insoles and a clog-resistant sole work with a shock-absorbing midsole to help conserve energy on varied terrain. For damp weather the Gore-Tex lining provides breathable waterproofing so moisture from outside cannot reach the foot, yet sweat can escape.

## Technical Specifications

- Name: **Berghaus Hillmaster II GTX**
- Upper: leather with abrasion-resistant finish.
- Lining: Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane.
- Outsole: VIBRAM rubber for enhanced grip.
- Midsole: shock-absorbing construction with anti-clogging design.
- Closure: lace system with locking eyelets.
- Fit features: visco-elastic foam in collar and tongue.

## Benefits

Enhanced grip on wet rock and muddy ground reduces slipping and helps maintain confident foot placement when route-finding. The combination of supportive insoles and a cushioned midsole softens impact, so endurance on longer approaches is improved. Breathable waterproofing means feet stay drier for longer in changeable conditions and the robust leather upper resists scuffs while remaining flexible for comfortable stride.

## Usage Recommendations

Break them in over a few short walks to allow the leather and the foam collar to settle to your foot shape. For hill days with mixed ground choose a slightly firmer sock to improve support and reduce friction. Consider cleaning and treating the leather periodically to maintain abrasion resistance and preserve the waterproofing performance, bearing in mind that heavy treatments may alter breathability according to product care guidance.
