Arrow Video The Apartment Limited Edition 4K UHD

Why it makes sense

For viewers seeking Billy Wilder’s celebrated film The Apartment in 4K UHD, this Arrow Video limited edition centres on a landmark collaboration between the director and Jack Lemmon.

Released in 1960, the film reunited Wilder and Lemmon after the success of Some Like it Hot. Many consider it the pinnacle of both men’s careers, making this a distinctive choice for a collection focused on classic cinema.

The 4K UHD format gives the edition a clear place in a home-film library: it is centred on one specific title, rather than being a general collection of films. That makes it relevant both to viewers returning to a familiar classic and to anyone building a collection around Wilder or Lemmon.

Key points

The focus is The Apartment, directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon. Its place in the careers of both men gives the release interest beyond its title alone, while the connection to their earlier collaboration on Some Like it Hot adds useful context for viewers exploring their work together.

The 4K UHD format is a practical distinction when choosing how to add the film to a collection. If the aim is to own this particular classic in that format, this edition answers that need directly, someone choosing films mainly by director, actor or genre may instead prefer to decide on a broader collection first. Here, the appeal is a dedicated edition of a single, widely regarded film.

As a viewing choice, it suits a planned film night focused on classic cinema, or a place in a collection of films by Wilder and performances by Lemmon. Its clear identity also makes it easy to select when the occasion calls for this specific pairing of director and actor.

Getting the most from it

A 4K UHD-compatible player is needed to watch the film in this format. Once ready to watch, it can take centre stage as a feature-length classic, with the director-and-star pairing offering a natural starting point for discussion or for revisiting other films from their careers.

For a more focused viewing session, consider the film alongside Some Like it Hot: the two titles mark a successful collaboration between Wilder and Lemmon, while The Apartment represents their later reunion. This provides context for the choice without requiring a wider box set or a mixed selection of films.

The limited-edition designation makes this release distinct within Arrow Video’s offering. Its appeal is most direct for collectors who want this particular 1960 film in 4K UHD, rather than a broader set selected around a theme.

Final verdict

Arrow Video’s The Apartment Limited Edition 4K UHD is a considered pick for classic-film viewers who want Billy Wilder’s 1960 collaboration with Jack Lemmon in a dedicated UHD edition. The combination of a renowned film, a notable creative pairing and a clearly identified format gives it a specific role in a home collection: a focused choice for returning to The Apartment or adding it to a selection of classic cinema.
