## Description

This aluminium cage for the Insta360 X5 gives the camera a tougher profile while keeping full access to controls and ports, making it practical for action shooting and run-and-gun setups. It combines a quick-release base plate and multiple expansion mounts to support lights, microphones and tripod attachment, increasing versatility on location.

## Key Points

The frame is a full-metal construction that supports the Insta360 X5 and includes a two-stage quick-release mechanism with a secondary safety lock to reduce the risk of accidental detachment during movement or vibration. Precision cut-outs allow battery changes, cable charging and microphone adapter installation without removing the camera from the cage. The design is lightweight according to the manufacturer at about 65 g, while the internal silicone pads add grip and shock absorption for rough use. For run-and-gun workflows the integrated quick-release plate mates with the Insta360 2.0 mount to speed up mounting and dismounting.

## Technical Specifications

- Name: **AMAZEAR Metal Protective Case for Insta360 X5**
- Material: Aluminium alloy
- Weight: 65 g (manufacturer specification)
- Mounts: 1 × 1/4"-20 bottom, 2 × 1/4"-20 right side, 1 × GoPro-style base
- Accessory mounts: Cold shoe on top and right
- Safety: Two-stage quick-release latch with secondary lock

## Benefits

The metal cage adds structural protection against impacts and knocks while keeping the camera operational, which helps when filming in handheld, vehicle or gimbal-mounted scenarios. Multiple threaded mounts and a GoPro-style adapter make it straightforward to configure a small rig with LED lighting and an external microphone, improving audio and exposure control in one compact setup. The black anodised finish maintains a low profile on camera rigs and should resist scuffs in normal field use.

## Usage Recommendations

Attach the camera to the quick-release plate and verify the secondary lock engages before subjecting the rig to strong vibrations. Use the right-side 1/4"-20 threads for vertical mounting when space is limited and the bottom thread for tripods or stabilisers. If adding an on-camera light and microphone, place the mic on the top cold shoe and the light on the right shoe to avoid obstructing ports and battery access. Consider the slight additional bulk when planning carry cases or compartments.

Note that while the aluminium frame offers a robust outer shell, it does not make the camera fully waterproof or impact proof on its own, so combine it with appropriate protective measures for severe environments.
