Pros

The adapter is made from aluminium alloy with a hard black oxidation finish, which helps resist corrosion and keeps the mount rigid. The inner wall receives a matt coating to reduce stray reflections when shooting close up. It fits securely yet detaches easily, so swapping between normal and reverse use is straightforward. Do bear in mind that autofocus and automatic aperture are disabled when using the ring, so you must focus manually and set exposure yourself. That said, for creative macro work this level of control is often preferred.

How to use it

Attach the ring to a lens by screwing the 49mm filter thread into the adapter, then mount the adapter directly onto the camera body in the same way you would a standard lens. Use manual focus and either manual exposure or aperture priority as recommended by the manufacturer. It’s worth practising with a tripod and good lighting until you get used to the shallow depth of field and close working distances.
