## Description

For home cooks and anyone maintaining blades, the vuwo 001 whetstone brings coarse and fine sharpening together in one double-sided stone. Its 400-grit face is for starting the sharpening process, while the 1000-grit face lets you refine the edge afterwards. A non-slip silicone holder helps keep the stone steady as you work.

The stone measures 18L x 6W x 3H centimetres and is made from white corundum. It can be used for kitchen knives as well as other blades, including scissors, chisels and razors, making it a practical option for a range of sharpening tasks at home.

## What to know

This set centres on a simple two-stage approach: begin on the coarser 400-grit side, then turn the stone over to use the finer 1000-grit side. Having both grades on one stone means you can move from restoring an edge to refining it without changing to a separate whetstone. The silicone holder supports the stone during sharpening, helping it stay in place on the work surface.

The stone is lubricated with water rather than oil. Before using it, immerse it in water for 10–15 minutes, then keep the surface wet as you sharpen. The set includes one 400/1000-grit sharpening stone and one silicone holder. Buyers often highlight its usefulness for bringing an edge back to kitchen knives, along with the convenience of having two grit levels in one stone.

## Care & maintenance

Use water with the whetstone, oil is not required. Work across the full stone surface to help keep it even over time, and avoid dropping it. Take care while sharpening, as knife edges can cause injury, and store the stone out of children’s reach. These straightforward steps support regular home use and help you look after the stone between sharpening sessions.

## Getting the most from it

For a knife that needs its edge restored, start with the 400-grit face and work along the blade for a few minutes, then turn the stone over and continue on the 1000-grit face. The finer side is also useful for routine touch-ups when a blade is already sharp. Keep the stone wet with water during the process and use the full surface rather than concentrating on one spot.

A pull-through sharpener offers a different, guided approach, this whetstone instead gives you two grit stages on a single stone and can also be used on other listed blade types, such as chisels and scissors. It suits a kitchen where different knives need occasional attention, as well as a home tool kit with more than one kind of blade to maintain.

## Is it worth it?

The vuwo 001 is a useful fit for people who want a water-based sharpening stone with coarse and fine faces in one compact set. Its two-stage format, steadying silicone holder and use across several blade types make it well suited to everyday knife care and occasional sharpening around the home.
