## Description

A touch-interactive screen gives children a hands-on way to practise letters and numbers, with Mr Pencil guiding the writing-and-drawing theme. It brings early literacy and numeracy practice into a child-friendly tablet format.

Children can practise both uppercase and lowercase letters on the touch screen, making it useful for short writing sessions at home. The toy is in Spanish, so the language is part of the learning experience.

Choose it for focused alphabet practice with drawing, rather than a general-purpose drawing board. Its combination of letter writing, numbers and creative play gives children more than one way to engage.

## Tech specs

The touch screen is central to the activity: children can follow the instructions to learn letters and numbers, then practise writing uppercase and lowercase letters. Drawing adds a creative element, while the alphabet and numeracy focus makes the toy relevant to early learning at home. The small tablet format suits individual play at a table or during a quiet activity, with one child using it at a time.

## Tips for day-to-day use

Use the toy for a short, focused activity: a child can work through letter practice, try numbers, or switch to drawing with Mr Pencil. Following the instruction manual helps introduce the activities, while repeated practice gives children the chance to become familiar with letter shapes. As this is the Spanish version, it is suited to play and learning in Spanish.

The included alkaline batteries mean the toy is ready for battery-powered use without a separate battery purchase. It requires no assembly, so it can be set up for play without putting parts together. Its single-player format is particularly suited to one-to-one practice or independent play, rather than a shared multiplayer game.

## Who it’s for

This VTech toy is aimed at children aged 36 months to 7 years who are beginning to explore letters, numbers and drawing. It may suit families looking for an interactive activity with a clear learning focus, as well as children who enjoy practising by touching and writing on a screen. The Spanish-language format is a key part of the choice: it fits households where children are learning or using Spanish.

For a child mainly looking for open-ended drawing, a simple drawing board offers a different kind of activity. This toy is better suited to families who want drawing alongside specific alphabet and number practice, with uppercase and lowercase writing included in the activities.

## Buying verdict

The VTech 80-617022 brings alphabet writing, number learning and drawing together in a compact, touch-interactive toy. Its Spanish-language activities and practice with both uppercase and lowercase letters make it a practical choice for children aged 36 months to 7 years who are ready for playful early-learning sessions at home.
