Theo Klein Miele Kitchen Big Rounded 7101 play kitchen with sound effects

For children aged 3 and over who enjoy copying everyday cooking, the Theo Klein Miele Kitchen Big Rounded 7101 offers a set-up for pretend meals, washing up and serving.

Its Miele-inspired design combines several play areas, including a hob with cooking sounds, an oven, microwave, sink and side worktop. A working ice cube dispenser adds another hands-on feature.

Could the burger accessories make a familiar play routine more engaging? The set includes pieces for assembling burgers and veggie burgers, giving children more to do than simply imitate cooking.

Who it’s for

This is aimed at young children who enjoy role-play and want a play space with several activities in one. They can stir a pot, turn food in the pan, use the sink and serve a meal, while the burger pieces encourage imaginative combinations. Those routines also give children opportunities to practise handling small play items and using their imagination, without making the kitchen a cooking appliance for real food.

The 83 x 39 x 95 cm dimensions are useful to consider when deciding where it will sit in a child’s room. It is a larger, multi-part play set rather than a compact handful of pretend kitchen accessories, so the available space and willingness to assemble it are relevant to the choice. You’ll like it if a child is drawn to varied kitchen role-play and sound effects. It may not suit you if you want a ready-to-use toy that needs no assembly or batteries.

Buyer feedback on the play experience is positive, with customers describing children as absorbed in the kitchen. Views are less consistent on assembly, sturdiness and appearance: some find it straightforward to build and attractive, while others are less satisfied with the instructions, stability or finish. That makes it sensible to weigh the range of play features against the practicalities of putting it together.

What’s included

The kitchen has a hob, oven, microwave, extractor hood, sink with tap, coffee machine, ice cube dispenser and side worktop. The dispenser comes with play ice cubes, and the hob has cooking sound effects. Burger equipment includes a chopping board, vegetables and patties for making burgers or veggie burgers. Storage compartments provide a place to put the play utensils away after use.

The set requires 4 x R03-AAA batteries, which are not supplied, and assembly is required. Allow for both before expecting the sound effects to be ready for play.

Final verdict

The 7101 makes most sense for a child who will use several parts of a pretend kitchen, rather than a simpler set focused on just one activity. Its mix of appliances, sound effects and burger pieces gives children different ways to play, while the dimensions and assembly requirement are practical considerations for adults. If space is limited or a no-assembly option matters more than variety, a smaller, simpler play set may be a better fit.
