## Description

## Best use cases

When recording, the choice is often between relying on the microphone built into a device and using a clip-on mic positioned on your clothing. The PowerDeWise PD001 is a wired lavalier microphone for recording speech on compatible phones, cameras, laptops and audio recorders. Its clip-on format keeps the microphone close to the speaker, making it a practical option for video, voice recordings, online meetings and ASMR.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern is suited to capturing sound from around the mic, while the supplied extension cord gives more freedom to position yourself during a recording. Use the lapel clip to secure the microphone to clothing, then connect it to your device through the 3.5 mm jack or the included TRRS-to-TRS adapter, as appropriate.

## Pros

Plug-and-play operation means there are no drivers to install: connect the microphone and set up your recording on a compatible device. Its wired connection keeps the recording setup straightforward, and the clip-on design helps keep the mic in place while you speak. The extension cord is useful when the recording device needs to sit further away, while the extra wind muffs give you an option for the microphone setup.

For a tutorial or video call, clip the mic to your clothing and connect it to the recording device, this keeps the microphone separate from the camera or phone position. Customer feedback highlights ease of use, while views on sound quality are mixed and some customers raise concerns about reliability and durability. This gives a useful perspective when choosing between a clip-on recording setup and simply using the device’s built-in microphone.

## Before you decide

**Does it connect directly to a phone or camera?** It has a 3.5 mm jack and includes a TRRS-to-TRS adapter. It is listed as compatible with phones, cameras and other devices. An adapter for iPhone is not included, and some laptops may require a USB adapter, which is also not included.

**Do I need to install software?** No drivers are needed. Plug the microphone into a compatible device to set up your recording.

**What does the omnidirectional pattern mean in use?** The microphone is designed to pick up sound from around it, rather than focusing on just one direction. Clip it near the speaker for speech recordings, video or calls.

## When it makes sense

It suits you if you want a portable, wired clip-on microphone for speaking to camera, recording voice or taking calls on a compatible device. The 3.5 mm connection, included adapter and extension cord make it straightforward to adapt the setup to different recording positions, while the omnidirectional pickup pattern supports natural speech capture from around the mic.
