Paper Mate Flexgrip Ultra Retractable Ballpoint Pens, 1.0 mm, Black, Pack of 12
Product description
For everyday notes, lists and paperwork at home, school or in the office, the Paper Mate Flexgrip Ultra combines a medium 1.0 mm point with a rubberised barrel and textured grip. The black ballpoint ink and click-to-retract design suit routine writing where a pen needs to be ready to use and easy to put away.
The pack contains 12 pens, so it is suited to keeping a few in different work or study spaces. Would a click mechanism be more convenient than a capped pen for your usual routine? That is the main practical distinction here, alongside the grippy barrel.
Getting the most from it
The retractable tip opens and closes with a click, which avoids handling a separate cap and helps protect bags or pockets from stray ink marks when the pen is retracted. A clip is included for attaching it to a notebook or planner. For a typical day of jotting reminders, taking notes or filling in forms, the medium point is intended to make bold, well-defined lines rather than a fine, narrow mark.
The textured grip and rubberised barrel are designed to add comfort and control, including during longer writing sessions. The pen uses floating-ball writing technology for smooth ink flow. It is also made with 55% recycled materials, a relevant detail if recycled content is part of your stationery choice. The stated ink colour for this pack is black, other colours mentioned in the wider range are not included in this description of the pack.

Strengths
The appeal is practical rather than complicated: a click-to-use format, black ink, a medium point and a grip shaped for everyday handling. Compared with a basic capped pen, the retractable mechanism is handy when notes are taken in short bursts or the pen is carried in a pocket or planner. A capped version may suit someone who specifically prefers that format, but this pack is built around quick access and easy storage.
Buyer feedback is positive about comfort and smooth writing, with some also appreciating the pens for everyday use. However, reports on reliability, ink flow and how long the pens last are mixed. Some buyers describe faulty pens, so the stated writing features should not be taken as a guarantee that every pen in the pack will perform identically. Worth considering if a comfortable grip and a retractable black ballpoint are priorities for routine writing.
Should you buy it?
This pack makes sense if you want several matching pens for regular notes and prefer a medium line, a textured rubberised grip and a click mechanism over a capped design. The recycled content may also matter when choosing everyday stationery. Not the best choice if consistent performance from every pen is essential to your decision, given the mixed buyer reports on reliability and ink flow. The main choice is whether the convenience and grip suit your daily writing better than a simpler capped pen.
