## Description

## Key takeaways

If you need to extend a DisplayPort connection while keeping support for high-resolution video and fast refresh rates, this 0.2 m male-to-female extension provides a short link between your existing cable and display. Its DisplayPort 2.1 specification supports bandwidth up to 80 Gbps, with listed modes including 16K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz and 4K at up to 240 Hz.

For a gaming display, the stated support for FreeSync and G-Sync is useful alongside high refresh rates. For everyday desk use, the short extension can help connect a PC or laptop to a monitor or HDTV without changing the overall setup.

## Practical tips

This is an extension cable, with a male DisplayPort connector at one end and a female connector at the other. It is designed to sit between a DisplayPort source and an existing DisplayPort cable, adding 0.2 m to the connection. If you are building a display connection from scratch, a single cable of the required length is a different approach, this extension is suited to adding a short link to a setup already in place.

The cable is braided and described as tangle-free, making it easier to handle when arranging connections around a desk or entertainment area. Its aluminium alloy housing, gold-plated pins and layered shielding are designed to support a stable connection and help resist interference.

## Getting the most from it

Connect the male end to the DisplayPort output and attach the existing display cable to the female end. The extension supports DisplayPort 2.0, 1.4, 1.3, 1.2 and 1.1, as well as DP and DP++ modes, so it can be used with compatible PCs, graphics cards, laptops, monitors and TVs. The display modes and refresh rates available in practice depend on the connected devices and their support for the relevant resolution and features.

For a high-refresh gaming setup, the stated support for HDR, FreeSync, G-Sync and DSC 1.2a adds useful display options. It also supports MST for multi-monitor arrangements, plus game, extended, mirror and multi-screen modes. MST and the chosen display mode require support from the connected devices. Audio transmission is supported as well, so compatible equipment can carry video and audio over the DisplayPort connection.

## What to clarify

**Will it work with an older DisplayPort device?** It is backwards compatible with DisplayPort 2.0, 1.4, 1.3, 1.2 and 1.1, and supports DP and DP++ modes. The source and display still need to support the resolution and features you want to use.

**Which resolution and refresh rates are listed?** Supported modes include 16K and 10K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz, 4K at up to 240 Hz, and 2K at up to 360 Hz. The connected hardware determines which mode is available.

**Can it be used for multiple monitors?** The cable supports Multi-Stream Transport (MST) and multi-screen mode. The connected devices must also support MST for a multi-monitor setup.

## When it makes sense

Choose this extension when a DisplayPort setup needs a short additional link and you want support for current high-bandwidth display features, including HDR, adaptive sync and high refresh rates. Its 0.2 m length suits a compact connection between existing equipment, while the male-to-female design keeps it straightforward to add to a PC, graphics card, laptop or HDTV arrangement.
