Insta360 Flow 2 Pro Grey smartphone gimbal with DockKit and 360° tracking

Tips for day-to-day use

Folded to 97.9x178.4x36.7mm, the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro Grey is a smartphone gimbal designed to travel as a compact unit. It combines three-axis stabilisation with 360° pan tracking, so it can follow movement rather than simply hold a phone steady. The integrated tripod and selfie stick give you options for filming alone or setting up a fixed shot. It is aimed at video creation, calls, meetings and livestreams, not just handheld clips.

For a walking video, attach your phone, unfold the gimbal and let the tracking keep you in frame as you move. The multi-person tracking is also useful for a group shot where people may shift position. If you mainly record static scenes, a basic phone stand may be enough, the Flow 2 Pro makes more sense when following movement and stabilising footage are part of the plan. Its folding format and built-in filming tools reduce the need to carry separate tripod and selfie-stick accessories.

What stands out

The main distinction is the breadth of tracking and filming features in one foldable device. Apple DockKit provides native tracking across more than 200 compatible iOS apps, which is relevant if you want to use tracking beyond a dedicated camera app. The gimbal also supports free tilt recording, allowing the phone to move up and down while maintaining its angle, and active zoom tracking for supported iPhone models.

The built-in tripod and selfie stick, along with a selfie mirror, teleprompter and power-bank function, make this a more self-contained setup than buying a stabiliser alone. That can be useful for a solo creator switching between handheld footage, a hands-free video call and a talking-to-camera recording. You’ll like it if you want one device for those different jobs and value tracking that can follow you around a space. The feature list also mentions Android use, though the DockKit app support is specifically described for compatible iOS apps.

What to clarify

Does DockKit work with every iOS app? No. The stated support is for more than 200 compatible iOS apps, rather than every app.

Is active zoom tracking available on all phones? The stated availability is limited to iPhone 12–17 Pro and Pro Max models. The 15x zoom figure applies to that feature, not to every tracking mode.

Can it follow a group as well as one person? Yes. Multi-person tracking is listed, making it suitable for keeping a group in frame as people move.

Should you buy it?

This is a considered choice if your phone is a regular filming tool and you want stabilisation, subject tracking and a stand or selfie stick in the same foldable unit. Compared with a simpler stabiliser, its appeal is the range of built-in filming functions and app tracking, those extras matter less if you only need occasional steady footage. Better avoided if active zoom tracking is essential on a phone outside the stated iPhone compatibility, as that feature’s availability is specifically limited. For other uses, the key decision is whether tracking and the integrated setup justify choosing a gimbal over a basic phone support.
