## Description

## How to use it

For a Windows 10 or Windows 11 desktop or laptop that needs a wireless network connection, the COMFAST CF-983BE provides Wi-Fi through a USB 3.0 connection. Its external format is a practical alternative to relying on a computer’s built-in wireless connection when adding a USB adapter better suits the setup.

Connect the adapter to a USB port and use the pre-loaded driver to get started. It is designed for PC and laptop use, with support for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Once connected to a wireless network, it can also serve as a Soft AP, turning a wired internet connection on the computer into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The two high-gain 6dBi antennas give the adapter a clear, distinctive setup, while tri-band support covers 6GHz, 5GHz and 2.4GHz. This makes it a useful choice for a compatible Wi-Fi 7 setup where access to multiple bands and features such as MLO matters.

## Pros

Wi-Fi 7 support and a stated combined data rate of up to 6,500Mbps make this adapter suited to high-bandwidth activities such as online gaming and high-definition live streaming. Actual network performance depends on the wireless network and connected equipment, but the multi-band design gives a PC access to the three stated frequency bands rather than relying on a single band.

MLO support and MU-MIMO are included for use in busy network environments. The adapter supports two simultaneous data streams, helping make efficient use of the wireless connection when several devices are active. For a home office or gaming PC sharing a network with other users, these features provide a more capable wireless setup than a basic single-band USB dongle.

USB 3.0 provides the physical connection to the computer, with data transfers stated at up to 5Gbps. WPA3 encryption adds a modern security feature for personal wireless networking. Together with the Soft AP mode, the adapter offers more than a straightforward way to connect a desktop or laptop to Wi-Fi: it can also share a wired connection as a hotspot when that suits the setup.

Its USB 3.0 connection keeps installation centred on the computer’s USB port, while MLO, MU-MIMO and Soft AP mode give it practical roles for a busy home network, gaming or streaming setup, and sharing a wired connection.
