## Description

Drivers with factory-wired CarPlay or Android Auto can switch to a wireless connection with the Carlinkit Mini Ultra 3. Plug the compact adapter into the car’s USB port and pair your phone once. It reconnects automatically when you start the car, keeping everyday music, navigation and calls within reach without connecting your phone by cable.

## Who it’s for
This adapter is for cars that already have factory-wired CarPlay or Android Auto. It keeps each system in its existing format: wired CarPlay becomes wireless CarPlay, while wired Android Auto becomes wireless Android Auto. For wireless CarPlay, use an iPhone running iOS 10 or later, wireless Android Auto requires an Android phone running Android 11 or later. It is not compatible with BMW, Tesla or vehicles without factory-wired CarPlay or Android Auto.

It suits you if you want to leave your phone in your pocket or bag after getting into the car, while still using the car’s existing touchscreen, steering-wheel buttons, rotary controls and voice commands. The adapter uses the vehicle’s built-in microphone for calls, so the setup works with the controls already familiar to the driver.

## Technical details

- Power: 5 V DC, 0.75 W consumption
- Weight: 7 g

## Why it’s worth it
The plug-and-play setup keeps installation straightforward: connect the adapter to the car’s USB port, pair your phone, then let it reconnect at start-up. The included USB-C adapter gives you another connection option alongside USB-A. Its compact design also helps keep the adapter discreet in the cabin, rather than adding a larger device to the dashboard or centre console.

For a regular drive, that means navigation and music can be ready without taking the phone out and plugging it in each time. The OTA update support provides a way to receive software updates after installation, while retaining access to the car’s original controls. Buyers commonly praise the small size and ease of setup. Feedback on connection consistency and audio delay is mixed: some describe a smooth connection, while others report disconnections or noticeable delay. Some buyers also mention heat during use, so feedback on day-to-day performance varies.

## Should you buy it?
Choose the Mini Ultra 3 if your car has factory-wired CarPlay or Android Auto and you want to use that same system wirelessly. Its automatic reconnection, compact form and USB-A/C connection options are practical for drivers who make frequent trips and would rather leave cable handling out of their routine. Check that your phone’s operating system meets the relevant requirement and that the car has the matching factory-wired system before setting it up.
