Voctent portable vocal booth, brushed fabric

Key points

Recording in a bedroom or home office can leave a voice sounding roomy, especially when sound bounces off hard surfaces. The Voctent portable vocal booth is designed to soften those reflections around a recording space.

Its acoustic blankets use brushed fabric and dense cotton fill. The product description states that the material is over 800 GSM and claims reverb and noise reduction of up to 87%, treat that figure as a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for every room or setup.

A white side can reflect light for video, and the package includes a carrying bag, an audio-interface tray, an iPad clamp holder and an LED light bar. Keep in mind that reducing room echo is not the same as soundproofing a room or blocking all outside noise.

Best use cases

This setup is aimed at voice-over, podcasting and singing in reflective spaces such as bedrooms, apartments, home studios and offices. For example, if you record a spoken intro at a desk beside bare walls, placing the booth around your recording area may help make the voice sound drier and less coloured by the room.

It’s a good option if you want a portable way to manage reflections without permanently changing a room. Someone who only records occasionally might instead prefer a simpler, smaller reflection-control accessory, someone who needs isolation from neighbours or street noise will need a different approach. The listing describes the booth as easy to assemble, but doesn’t explain the assembly process or provide dimensions, so it’s difficult to judge its footprint in advance.

Tips for day-to-day use

Use the enclosure around the recording position and keep your microphone and other equipment arranged so they remain accessible. The included tray is intended for an audio interface, while the clamp holder can hold an iPad, the carrying bag is useful if you need to put the booth away between sessions or move it to another room.

For video, the white blanket side is described as reflective, which may help brighten the scene. Lighting results will still depend on the room and your camera setup. Likewise, the acoustic result can vary with placement and the surfaces around the booth, so don’t assume the advertised reduction will be identical in every space.

Before you decide

What’s included? The listed accessories are a carrying bag, an audio-interface tray, an iPad clamp holder and an LED light bar, alongside the acoustic booth.

Can it help with voice recordings? It is intended to reduce echo and reverb for voice-over, podcasts and singing. It is not described as a complete barrier against sound entering or leaving a room.

Can it be used for video? The white side of the blanket is said to reflect light, so it may be useful when recording video as well as audio. No lighting output or brightness details are provided.

Is it worth it?

This booth makes most sense for a creator who records in a hard-surfaced room and wants a portable enclosure with several included accessories. It may not be the right fit if your main problem is outside noise, if you need a permanent studio treatment, or if you must know the exact dimensions before buying. For a mobile voice-recording setup, its combination of dense cotton-filled blankets and practical add-ons is more relevant than a basic single reflection screen, for genuine sound isolation, look beyond a booth focused on controlling room reflections.
