## Description

Made from 6061 aluminium, the FALCAM Native Guardian is a camera cage designed for the Hasselblad X2D and X2D II. Its contoured shape follows the camera body and grip, while the hard-anodized finish helps protect the camera’s original finish during everyday handling.

A hidden AirTag-compatible compartment and a Y-type security screw add practical anti-loss and anti-theft features. The AirTag is purchased separately, and the screw is removable with its exclusive tool.

The included Arca L-plate supports horizontal and vertical shooting, with an adjustment thumbscrew for changing its extension without tools. Remove the plate for a more compact handheld setup.

## Key points

The cage combines a protective hard shell with access designed around the camera’s everyday controls. Buttons, ports and the battery remain accessible, and a sliding cover opens for shutter cable and card access. That means less need to remove the cage when moving between shooting tasks or working with the camera’s ports.

For framing and setup, centre marks on the L-plate and cage baseplate help with alignment, while a plane mark on the left shoulder serves as a distance reference for shift and adapter lenses. Screen guard rails provide clearance when the camera is placed screen-down. The lay-flat design is also described as stable with XCD28, XCD38 and XCD55 lenses.

Need to alternate between landscape and portrait compositions? The integrated Arca quick-release plate makes both orientations part of the setup, and the adjustable L-plate can be extended to suit the arrangement.

## Practical tips

Fit the cage to a Hasselblad X2D or X2D II and use the sliding cover for convenient access to the shutter cable and card. For a compact handheld configuration, remove the Arca L-plate, when a different plate position is useful, adjust its extension with the thumbscrew.

The five standard 13 mm strap lugs provide attachment points for shoulder or wrist straps. Choose straps up to 13 mm wide to suit the lugs, and attach them without metal buckles to help avoid scratching the camera. The hidden compartment is designed for an AirTag, which can support tracking features such as left-behind alerts, sound alerts and Precision Finding when used with an AirTag.

## Tips for day-to-day use

When setting up a shot, use the alignment marks to centre the camera or establish a reference for shift and adapter lenses. The screen guard rails are useful when placing the camera screen-down, while the lay-flat form helps keep the setup steady with the listed XCD lenses. For carrying, connect a suitable strap to the lugs and select the wrist or shoulder arrangement that fits the outing.

Compared with a simple protective case, this cage adds mounting and framing flexibility through its Arca L-plate, strap lugs and alignment marks. It suits a setup where camera access, portrait-orientation shooting and carrying options matter alongside protection.

## Buying verdict

A solid pick if you use a Hasselblad X2D or X2D II and want a fitted aluminium cage that combines camera protection with Arca plate versatility. The removable L-plate, accessible controls, strap attachment points and discreet AirTag slot make it a practical choice for photographers moving between handheld shooting, tripod setups and everyday carrying.
