The stated 312 MB/s figure is a maximum for UHS-II card use, not a guarantee for every transfer. Actual results depend on the cards and connected device. UHS-I cards are supported too, so the reader can still serve a mixed collection, though they do not provide the same UHS-II capability.

Getting the most from it

For a camera-to-computer workflow, insert an SD card and a microSD card to copy or organize files between them without repeatedly unplugging the reader. That can be useful when sorting footage from a camera and a second device, or when moving a batch of photos to a laptop or tablet. The dual-slot design also works for ordinary card access when only one card is inserted.

The USB-C connection and driver-free operation on most listed operating systems make it suited to direct use with a compatible computer, tablet or phone. For Android, OTG support is specifically required. The host device and card also affect transfer speed, so the maximum figure is most relevant when the rest of the setup supports UHS-II. A simpler single-slot reader may be enough if you only need to access one card at a time, this model’s practical distinction is the option to work with both slots together.

Its aluminium alloy case and braided cable are intended to make the reader more durable than a basic plastic-bodied design. The listed dimensions may help when considering a compact work setup, but the product details do not give a weight or cable length.

Usage tips

Match the card to the slot before connecting the reader, then confirm that the USB-C device recognizes the card. For Android phones, check OTG support first, the listing makes that a condition of use. If transfers are slower than expected, the card’s UHS class and the connected device are relevant factors, rather than the reader’s maximum figure alone.

It’s a good fit if you regularly move files from SD or microSD cards and want two slots in one USB-C reader. It’s not for you if your device lacks a compatible USB-C connection or, for Android, OTG support. The product details do not specify a supplied case or other pack-in accessories.

Before you decide

Which cards can it read? It supports UHS-II and UHS-I SD and microSD formats, including SDHC, SDXC, microSDHC and microSDXC, as well as MMC and RS-MMC.

Can both slots be used at once? Yes. The reader is described as supporting simultaneous card reading and file copying or transferring between the two cards.

Will it work with an Android phone? It is listed for Android, but the phone must support OTG. The reader also requires a compatible USB-C connection.

Is it worth it?

Choose this reader if dual-slot access and UHS-II card support match your photo or video file workflow, particularly when you want to transfer between cards without swapping hardware. Its stated speed and USB-C connection are useful buying points, but they do not establish the speed of every device-and-card combination. If you mainly need occasional access to a single card, a simpler reader may suit that task, if you need two-card handling, this UGREEN’s slots are the deciding feature.
