## Description

Made from cardstock, THINKPSYCH Rethink This! is a card game for ages 6 and up that turns creative thinking into a shared activity. Players draw cards, roll the dice and race the one-minute timer to come up with ideas and score points. With more than 100 challenges, rounds invite players to invent new uses for everyday objects and imagine different explanations for surprising scenarios.

Designed for two or more players, it brings a lively, conversational format to home, school or counselling sessions. The game was created by social worker Lorena Donovan, LCSW, with play-based support for confidence, communication and emotional resilience in mind.

## The essentials

The card set includes 30 Rethink! Cards, 40 Scenario Cards and 60 Object Cards, plus dice, a timer and an instruction guide. Object prompts encourage players to look at familiar things in fresh ways, while scenario prompts invite them to consider more than one explanation for a situation. That mix gives each round a different creative task and keeps the focus on sharing ideas rather than finding a single correct answer.

As players take turns responding under the one-minute timer, they practise flexible thinking, problem solving and perspective taking in an approachable game format. It’s an engaging alternative to activities centred mainly on recall or matching: here, the fun comes from hearing how differently people can interpret a prompt. The stated age range is 6+, and the game is designed for 2+ players.

## Usage tips

Set out the cards, dice and timer, then follow the instruction guide to begin. The one-minute countdown gives each turn a clear pace, while the prompts provide a natural starting point for conversation. At home, it can add a creative activity to family game time, in a classroom or counselling setting, an adult can use the scenarios to encourage children to explain their ideas and listen to other viewpoints.

## Getting the most from it

Invite players to build on an idea or offer a different interpretation, especially when a scenario could have several explanations. For example, a prompt about an unusual event can lead to a range of possible stories, giving children practice considering another person’s perspective. Object challenges similarly encourage them to move beyond an item’s usual purpose and think creatively.

The quick, timed turns help keep participation active, while the range of card types offers different ways to practise communication and problem solving. It suits you if you’re looking for a structured game that opens up conversation and creative responses, rather than a quiet, individual activity.

## Is it worth it?

Rethink This! brings together imaginative prompts, a clear timed-turn format and social-emotional learning goals in one activity for two or more players. Its combination of object and scenario challenges makes it useful for families, educators and counsellors who want a practical way to encourage flexible thinking, communication and perspective taking through play. For ages 6 and up, it turns those skills into a shared game that gives every player room to contribute.
